Automerge

Is there any way to kill this thing or at the least lower the threshold that initiates it.

A lot of times it's easier to reply to people individually within the thread, and it makes is loads easier to read a thread, particularly when you post about something, go check it and come back and post a result.

It makes your posts hard to read and just plain ugly.

The automerge is a helpful feature that reduces board clutter.

Why don't you just use the quote feature more than once per post if you want to respond to multiple people? For example:

Because it sometimes becomes hard to read and the focus of each of the postings are sometimes wholly different. Combining them becomes confusing and with some of the geniuses that frequent the board, I wouldn't want them to get too confused and blow up their car when they mis-read something. (see acetone as a purging gas to weld a gas tank. )

That and my replies are typically not one sentance affairs.

Rather than reduce clutter, the way it's working now is just making posts look messy, somewhat confusing and hard to read (in other words it is creating clutter within the posts). I haven't seen any 'clutter' that it's been removing.
