Hi guys,
I've been noticing that some images are squished on the posts and also in the garage. I realize that this is to keep things orderly, but can you at least size them in proportion? I really throws things out of whack when you see a car that looks like some ghetto smurf ran it into a brick wall and shortened it.

Can you provide some examples? In posts? In the vBgarage? I really haven't noticed such myself, unless I'm just used to it.
Sure thing:

-Garage Example
Edit: Oops, it's another Safari problem. Firefox works fine.

Thought it may have been a browser issue/setting because I never noticed anything out of proportion. I do not use Safari so I can't be much help there. Is Safari scaling down the images with a setting?Originally Posted by super_kev

No, it recently started doing that (same version I've always been using). It keeps the height the same, and just scales the width.

if you have screen shots that would be a big help. Also the version of Mac OS and Safari would be a big help too.
No changes to image tags were applied to the site so I do not know why this is happening.
Any other safari users having this problem?
Can anyone else

Here you go. Safari 2.0.3, OS X 10.4.6. In the post example, only images 1, 3-5, 7-9 are distorted, and then all on his second post. The other two smaller ones on the first post (2, 6) are not, probably because they are less than 700px wide (the max?)
Edit: Something's up with the main thirdgen.org page. Firefox won't load it all the way (not the forum, the main site). I also tried thirdgen.org with another Mac (10.3.9, Safari 1.3.2) and it wouldn't load either, it was hanging on waiting for google ads. So maybe their server is down, and causing both Firefox and Safari to hang, waiting for that data?

I see some "sqwishing" myself. For example:

Inline images are scaled down to prevent the form view from being distorted.Originally Posted by IROCThe5.7L

I knew that's the reason, but is there anyway to have it proportionally scaled?Originally Posted by Jason|Xoxide

I think you guys are talking about two different things. As Jason mentioned, images linked in forums are resized to not distort the viewing. In IROCThe5.7L's example, the picture he used as an example was resized to 700 x 525. The original was 800 x 600. I believe that is maintaining correct ratio.Originally Posted by super_kev

Ah, ok. I'll see if Safari has any issues then (wouldn't be the first time).

This is quite annoying, and i've noticed that it is somewhat new. It is especially annoying on the photoshop board, people link to pictures in their posts and they get scaled down resulting in a picture that isn't clear. It ends up looking all blocky and like crap. Who cares if a picture is a little too big and the user has to scroll right to see the whole thing, at least it is clear.Originally Posted by Jason|Xoxide

It's not going away. The inline resizing prevents the board view from being distorted and then forcing people to scroll right and left in order to read the thread text. All you need to do to see an image full-size is to right-click and select "View Image".Originally Posted by spearson

All you need to do to see an image full-size is to right-click and select "View Image". If this board was like a photography forum, I could understand that. But how many threads are filled with large scale pictures? Maybe a few in the appearance forum. I don't think it would be a big deal.
No big deal either, but when I pass a scaled down image, it tends to slow my browser down a bit. And I got a pretty beefy computer.
