Search is still not working properly when I search for threads started by a particular member (or posts for that matter).

And where did all the pics go in the older threads?!? I never downloaded or save the pics because when I signed up here, I could see pics that were many years old. Now all I see is a bunch of red x's with no way to even view them.

Is the search going to get back to normal?
Are the pics lost forever?

 

The problems with the search are known and are being addressed. TGO is running a custom search engine that is still in development. We are using this customer search engine because we had a problem with the older one, and something needed to be installed - even if it has some problems.

As to the thread with no pictures, please provide some examples.

Well with the search acting up, I'm having trouble tracing my steps to the other photos I know were there until the server change.

Are you referring to the images posted by user 83 Crossfire TA? If so, those are hotlinked images, not hosted by ThirdGen.org. Therefore, we have no control over those images. There are two attachments in the first page of that thread, and they are working.

If you're referring to the images posted by MrDude_1, those are also hotlinked images that are not hosted by TGO. Therefore, we have no control over those as well.

 

Those images worked up until the change, are you sure the link(s) didn't get lost during the transfer? There is a lot of threads I've noticed missing pics, do the links go with you? I know the uploaded ones do, but I know you have limited drive space so I, along with several other members, will hotlink photos. It's a pain to keep reducing pics to get under the limit here (or any site for that matter).

 

The examples you provided appear to have been valid links so I don't see any issue with the link itself, or any likelihood that it got corrupt during the database transfer. Again, those images are not hosted by TGO, and therefore, we have *no* control over them. If they stopped working during our change, it is purley a coincidence. The members in your example simply "hotlinked". They had the image stored on another server/website.

I wouldn't doubt that there are many examples of this throughout the forums. People change hosts, servers move, images may get renamed, moved or deleted on the server used, etc.

We do no trim attachments. We have several gigabytes worth of attachments.
