Haha, good one!
If I'm not mistaken, you can configure the google ads to certain profile. For us, cars or car products would be appropriate. I'll have to ask my buddy who manages our local club how he did it. Because we get only ads related to car fixing.

Re: Ever heard of TARGETED ads?
I'm a web developer in addition to a Firebird Nerd and I use Google ads on a couple of my sites. Google automatically crawls though the site for keywords to deliver appropriate ads--the TGO webmasters don't tell Google what to display, it figures it out for itself. Every once in a while (when there's a scripting error or when they're performing routine maintenance) Googlebot is unable to crawl the page. When this happens, the webmaster can choose whether Google will display PSA's (which generate $0, but make you a good person), or generic ads. The latter is when baby wipes and other random ads pop up.
Re: Ever heard of TARGETED ads?
As said, while we do have limited control, for the most part Google picks the content and displays the content. They are supposed to be most relevant to the website, but as mentioned above, it's not always the case.
Not long ago, there was some comments about a spark plug ad that featured a Mustang. Of course some here didn't like the ad. But the ad was not only not-Mustang specific, it was in the Google network. Some members think we build/display the ads, even though they are labeled "Ads by Google".
There is not a lot that can be done, although we can exclude certain ads, by labeling them as competition.

However, a specific question:
Cheers.
Lou
P.S.: And again, I didn't get a notification of a reply. I still get them sporadically (and no, it didn't go into my spambox
). Re: Ever heard of TARGETED ads?
That said, where are you seeing those ads? I've yet to see any of those types of ads. There is actually a lot of reasons why the adsense may not work "properly".
I'm looking into a few email issues, but I'll let you know that since you're using Yahoo, we've heard a lot of Yahoo users with intermittent email notice issues for over the past year now.

your mail server is signing for domainkeys, but your not setup for it on the name server side.. so the mail now is setting it self up to look like a forgery
yahoo seems more tolerant then my mail server was
Re: Ever heard of TARGETED ads?
I tried to point that out to you a few weeks ago, thirdgen failed yahoo's own DomainKeys test (id give the link but it is 404 now for some reason, but heres another site http://domainkeys.sourceforge.net/policycheck.html)

You might have missed this, but this intermittent delivery issue with Yahoo has been an issue for over 1 year now - which domainkeys weren't a factor at that time as they weren't in use on our email server at that time. The changes occurred during the summer, which was months ago - but not a year ago when this intermittent issue with emails to Yahoo was brought up by various members using Yahoo for their email service.
And I'm not so sure that domainkeys are entirely responsible for this issue with Yahoo - which appears to filter/reject the mail only sometimes-randomly. Not to mention this has been a problem before domainkeys was even setup on the email server.

Re: Ever heard of TARGETED ads?
It probably isnt a main issue. I'm sure its an issue with some though, and I personally had my mail server treat yours harshly because of the issue(though I do run the much hated qmail), and it will take approximately 5 minutes to fix.. good place to start.. as it sits only half-configured its only there to produce error messages and nothing more. Ive read a number of places that yahoo will at the very least drop you into the bulk folder without a working domainkeys setup.. though ive not found that to be the case either.
They run so many mail servers in a round-robin fashion its possible they arent all configured exactly the same.. and technically I'm mistaken when i say the mails are looking like a forgery, just mis-configured server.
if the messages were flat out rejected they should tell you why in the error message that you will see in the logs, lost emails though.. again if you havent tried already, it might be possible to send them the log info and try and get some help from their end
not trying to start an argument JT (wasnt before either), just an 'armchair expert' trying to help
and I've gone entirely off topic, so I will stop there... though I guess the question is.... ARE you pregnant lou?!
