can I edit the text title?
I know it is a silly question and the title is insignificant really, I'm just curious. I've looked and searched around a bit for an answer but have not found one.
Re: can I edit the text title?
The ability to edit a title is locked after a few minutes. Been that way for years. If there is a need, either inform a moderator of the forum where the thread is, or myself, and we can change it.

No real need of course, just thought it would be kool to have something like "gearhead" or "grease monkey" as a title instead of "member" or "senior member". Thanks for the info.

JT was talking about topic titles. I don't think there is a way to change your "member" title.

The titles are granted after certain numbers of posts. The numbers (and what title it grants) are set by the admins on the forum panel.
Personally I like the titles.
1st : You earn your title by contributing.
2nd : If you could edit them yourself, we'd have so many "ultimate supreme infinitely knowledgeable" members, you wouldn't know the difference between those who knows their stuff, and those who just think they do...

Re: can I edit the text title?
Titan, in my experience it is usually the ones who claim to know everything that end up knowing nothing useful. And just because someone posts 250 times on a website does not mean they even know a thing about the subject they post on. I have seen a few who seem to get their numbers up by heckling other members, and some with well over 1000 posts that I'm not sure would know a water pump from a differential cover (not meaning you at all). If I wanted to "show off", I could post pics of timeslips and pics of cars I have built, or put "ASE Certified Master Mechanic" as my signature since I have worked and studied very hard to get that little card I keep in my wallet. I was only entertaining a humorous thought, as I don't normally take myself too seriously. I thought I had seen custom user titles, "on probation" is the one that comes to mind, so I thought I would ask if it could be done, but it can't. 'Nuf said. JT, thank you for your time and answers to my questions.

On Probation is not a custom user title, it's one you get from a Moderator/Admin that limits some of your privileges and one that you don't want
