I am trying to find a post on here that I found once before, from my my '92 TA was being sold by another member. No matter what combination of terms I use, I cannot find it. I notice that no posts older than 2006 appear to show up. Any ideas?

Hmm...I did a search for something else and got posts way back to '01.

How the heck come I can't find a for sale post for a '92 Trans Am using every combination of "92" or "1992" and "Trans Am" or "TA" that I can think of?

Short answer to this is no, it's not limited to 2006. In fact, when I do a search on your username, I see your first posts back in Oct 2005 (when you registered) as you can see here:


Doing a search on Notchback, I see results back to 2000:


I suspect you may not be hitting the right keywords for the post you're looking for? Being too descriptive? Or not enough?

I will admit the search is a bit busted at the moment, not indexing the newest posts, so I suppose anything is possible. But as you can see above, I'm seeing results back to as early as 2000.

Sorry, I missed your response (quoted above) when I was posting my initial response. The answer to your question is due to the fact that we split up the Classifieds section back in 2006. You might recall we simply had a Cars For Sale section and a Cars Wanted Section (Firebird and Camaro not separated). We also had a Parts For Sale and Parts Wanted section. We split them into Firebird, Camaro and also split the Parts sections (Exterior, Interior, etc.)

Because the Cars For Sale and Cars Wanted forums had a lot of (years worth) of posts, when we split the Cars For Sale and Cars Wanted between Firebird and Camaro, we simply moved the recent posts into the new categories and then closed the old Cars For Sale and Cars Wanted forum. Classified posts around and older than 2006 are in old, closed, forums that are no longer accessible. This is why they are not appearing in search results. No posts were deleted, though.

If you want, perhaps I can locate the post/thread and give access or a copy.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to look into this for me, I appreciate it.

It would be neat if the old post could be found. I wish I knew the user name of the guy who sold the car, but I don't. I found the post once before, though...black '92 TA w/a T56 and L98 for sale in Massachusetts, probably 2005 or so.

It's not terrible if I can't find it, it would just be cool. I sold my '92 Formula this weekend, and am now left with a BASKETCASE '92 TA that I'd like to bring back from the dead. Pics of the car in its prior condition might help to motivate me.
