I fully understand why some words are blocked by "*" when typed. I.E. Cursing.

However somethings go a bit too far. The word "red neck" is blocked. This causes problems. First off, Red neck is a growing torque converter company. There has been a few threads about them on here, but it is very hard to search because the company name is blocked.

Also it personally presents a problem. My screen name on several other sites is rednec kgames. It is also the same on photobucket. This causes a huge problem when linking pictures to threads.

I just think it goes a bit too far. Especially since I learned that "bitch" is not blocked. Red-neck is not a derogatory word. It was actually based in "The Battle of Blair Mountain". If red-neck is to be blocked, go ahead and block hillbilly, white trash, cracker, coon, etc.

Sorry, but this just aggrevates me.

Like I said I really dont care, it doesnt bother me. I was very surprised to see bitch go throw the filters though. Havent seen anyone back that one up yet though.

 

JamesC is correct. You can't exactly search for the amount of times, and how, that word has been tossed around this forum for years in nothing but a derogatory manner against other users and the ThirdGen crowd. Having the word filtered discourages that behavior and the usage. Other words are censored for that reason, or to try and retain some "work/family friendly" environment.

Honestly, I'm not sure I can offer a solid explanation to the bitch word not being on the filter, but I will note I was not the person who added the initial word on the censor list.

If you really do not care, and it does not bother you, then I suppose this thread is already finished with. Some have questioned the word being filtered before, but, as JamesC pointed out, it is a slang term that is frequently tossed around in a derogatory manner against each other. There's no need to bring down the community.
