Ride of the Month
Hi guys, anyway we can do a "Ride of the month" ? Member submit a few pics of their rides, say a little something about the car, mention the mods they've done and maybe future plans.. I think it be a cool idea.

Re: Ride of the Month
The ride of the month idea has been presented before. Personally, I think it's interesting and still considering it.
The issue is, it creates hard feelings for those who don't get accepted. Linked off of the home page, we have a Firebird and Camaro picture section listed per year. The idea was to include a few "best of the best" Firebird and Camaros, taken from within the community, to represent each year.
We'd get people contacting us with the request for their vehicle to be included. Some of them were legit, however, there were quite a bit that just didn't qualify. When those people seen their car wasn't included, or if they were declined, some got upset. Some even took it personal enough to attack the other cars that were included, and sometimes even chasing the owner around the site. Clearly, that doesn't help the community.
This also dismisses the "popularity contest" that we try to avoid because it's subject to so much abuse and can pit members against each other.
I know the idea works on other sites, as I've been a part of the process of selecting and doing the back-end work. However, what works on one site doesn't always work on another site.
Unfortunately, based on previous experiences with similar ideas on this site, my experience has been it causes issues that normally wouldn't exist. However, on the flip side, I personally think it's neat to see other people's cars (especially "mint" ones) and read their story. However, that can already be done in the Appearance and Detailing subsections (Members Camaro and Members Firebird sections).
Basically, not saying no but not exactly saying yes either.
