A site as large and active as ThirdGen incurs quite a bit of expenses to operate, aside from the fact we are also owned by a for-profit company. Because of this, there are ads that help pay for the expense of the site and business model.

I suspect the ad you seen was a Google ad that you might find on other websites that use Google ads. While we can block specific ads as they appear, we do not pick and/or support all the ads that you may see from Google.

Just as you may see a few non-GM (Ford, Toyota, etc.) ads by Google, you many ads that are non-ThirdGen related and are simply required to sustain the business model.
