The business I would most like to work for would be a business that would be for myself. A business run and maintained by myself. It would be run by my standards of how a store should be run. It would run in my opinion on, customer sales, store security and shop lifting, prices, hours as well as everything else. I would be the “Sole Proprietor.” Let’s say for example I would open a little music store in town right by Tom Picketts or plan to give him and Gary Davis a little competition. The advantage to this is that I can be open more hours, provide better goods and form my store around what they don’t have. Therefore, all decision-making power resides with sole proprietor, me. Also, profit is only taxed once. I would be my own boss and run the store how I felt it should be run. If something needs to change to make better business, I can change it right there on the spot and not have to call up the company offices on the 150th Floor of a building in Seattle. Along with the Advantages, there are also Disadvantages. I face unlimited Liability for my store and all my goods. If my store burns down, I’m the one who hurts, not the company. In the future if I’m in the need for expansion, if I already do not have the funds, I will have limited amounts of funds to use to expand. The last thing is, what will happen to my store when I die? I chose the Sole Proprietorship because I trust myself and judgement better than big name companies with many levels of different people you have to go through just to get one thing done.
