Interested.....no one seems to want 305s though....I just happen to be restoring an 87 and want a date coded engine.

 

This 305 with the T-5 was actually just a quick if not quicker than a 350 auto. This could obviously go on either transmission with the right bell housing. As far as demand all depends if people want to keep their car original or not. Would rather see this engine go to good use than a junk yard ! Great engine lot of good components. Come pick it up ! Also have a ton more parts you could check out if you come this way.

 

Yes, I aware of the 5 speed/auto. It's going to be a 700R4. I would need to verify a few items making sure it is an 87 F code engine with 5 spd. Obviously everything is a little risky buying a used engine. I've seen a lot swapped & even crate motors in cars I've bought thinking it was 100% original.
Can you get me a shot of the stamping on the front (yes front) of the engine. When looking at it from the front the little stamping on the left side if the block just in front if the left head....I want to see date code VIN code please.

 

I think it reads 14093627

Thank you. That's actually the rear of the block. The other #s I'm looking for are under the alternator

 

I know, it is just there is nothing on the front that I could find. This is looking directly below the alternator.

 

Believe it or not, in the last picture you shot I can see the area where it is stamped.
This is what I'm looking for.

 

That thing off to the last side in my picture is actually the front of a set if aluminum heads on the block. This is directly UNDER the alternator on your enginet. It is facing up. It tells me the day, Date & year this engine was produced

 

Definitely some shoddy stamping work on lower numbers (stamped 3x times?!) but I finally found it!

 

Any engine with SEX stamped in it is worth digging deeper into....
Thank you. I'm going to hunt down numbers today. I am hours away but drove 14hrs round trip one day for some seats....if the right engine another trip will work for me.

I've obviously been able to trace this number but that SFX OR SEX doesn't pop up yet on anything I have. Could be the "X" is for Pontiac. I'm still running #s but fI rat set look right.

I'm 99% sure this an S"F" & thinking the "X is for 5spd. That's the engine I actually want....now we should go further....lol
