7k Mile 1982 trans am.... I've died and gone to TA heaven
History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!

Just picked up this 1982 trans am with 7K miles!!! Can't even find a swirl mark on it . Came with the original 15 inch turbo cast with caps that were taken off the day the car was bought.

Got the wheels back on.... soooooo much better. I'll be ordering new Eagle GT tires for it because i agree, don't wanna drive on it with 34 year old tires. I'm a auto detailer on the side so i'll be detailing it this weekend and then i'll shoot a walk around video for all of you

Oh i know.... I have a kitt 82 replica too. With my kitt i zip tied them. I really don't want to do that to this car or do you think it wouldn't hurt the value?

I don't know. I would be hesitant to drill a hole into something that is like brand new.
On my 82, I leave the caps off and pop them on for car shows.

Maybe I'm going crazy, but I kind of liked the aftermarket ones, especially since the story was they were put on the day the car was bought. When I think of 82-84 birds, I imagine pictures of them driving through desert roads in western USA (or even through the desert, like the Knight Rider intro). Those wheels fit that vibe. I'd still put the stock ones on, but I wouldn't part with the aftermarket wheels.

Very nice ride. Is it a Van Nuys or Norwood car? If it is Van Nuys, I would check under the front seats and see if the build sheet is there. Found them there on both my low mile 82 cars that were from Van Nuys.

That is not the build sheet, that is the window sticker. A build sheet would not be given at the dealership. Usually it is discovered by accident. Here is what they look like. DO you have this document? Yes, NE Ohio, I chatted with you on FB about your purchase.

Looks like you snuck in a few curls in while spinning on the lug nuts

NICEE Car Chris !! Black/Gold,Tops,WS7, N89's. I'm very partial to that paint scheme and wheels myself lol and not many around with those miles.
Saw it on Ebay for $15K, I know its none of our business, I say If you payed $10K or less, you "Stole it" !!!!
What I REALLY find strange It's a Van Nuy Built car that was shipped to a OH Dealer ??? Was Norwood IDLE or a strike ??
Re: 7k Mile 1982 trans am.... I've died and gone to TA heaven
If the louvers are OEM and not aftermarket, there are a lot of people looking for an original set. These weren't available in 1982, so they don't look right on certain earlier models. They didn't look right on my '82 Pace Car, but would look fine on other 82-84 Z28s. Your set also wouldn't look right on your car.
Re: 7k Mile 1982 trans am.... I've died and gone to TA heaven
The louvers are a brand called shadow. I actually still have the receipt and instructions for it. Seems like on the forums that this was one of the best louvers to buy. What you think they are worth? Would love to get some money back on something lol.... they are as mint as mint can be
Re: 7k Mile 1982 trans am.... I've died and gone to TA heaven
Unfortunately I paid 15.... I told myself that I would never spend that on a third gen but I can honestly say this is the cleanest trans am of any year I've ever seen... I just had to have it lol. No buyers remorse from me

Louvers are identical to those I had on my '84 Z28 'back in the day'. Traded it off in 1988, one of those I should have never sold! Enjoying the pics, keep them coming.

If I were being completely picky about that car . . . I would pick up a spare set of caps and lugs that accept plastic thread-on caps, extend the holes deeper so they are past the lug outer threads and have an internal "washer." Then, black plastic caps to thread onto the lugs will retain those caps without worry.
Look up ZQ8 S10 wheels for ideas. They do not come off at 120. I added spacers to chrome lug caps ( washer section was too high) to match the chrome center caps.

are there other instances of this, maybe where the dealer invoice price or a holdback price is mis-entered rather than list?
