Thank so much Mark for taking the time to upload all these videos for all of us to enjoy and to look back on how great this series was during its time. I doubt we will never have anything like this again in Canada. I remember watching the series in '86 and thats when i had fallen in love with the Camaro. I own a 1991 z28 since 1995. It's not a players car, but i love it just the same.
Keep uploading the videos when you can. Thanks again mark.

There is some fantastic racing to watch. The east/west shootouts are some of the best to watch. All of those cars have bumps and bruises.
If I can find races additional footage, I will upload.
If anyone wants a physical copy of the races, I can put on USB.

Thanks Mark! Really appreciate all the videos you uploaded. I see a few with my car and this one with my car taking first place with Trevor Seibert behind the wheel. He came to my place yesterday to have a look at the ol'girl

Very cool. That video in particular has a lots of views. Perhaps Trevor and some old racing buddies have been viewing it. I was quite happy to see it being watched ... makes all the effort feel worth it.
... Did you get Trevor to sign the car anywhere? :-)

i had sent Trevor the video and he uploaded it on his Facebook page. No I didn't get him to sign the car, I should have tho. He might be interested in buying it from me

Cool car for sure. Too bad the original engine is missing. And I can't tell if the Brembo brakes are there ... I doubt it. A not a terrible price.
The cage in 1986 was provided by GM (Via Kerr Industries) which makes it part of the car as ordered. That along with the exhaust and engine were the package.
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
Hi All, I've been back and forth since May on a 1988 A4U nearby. Looked complete but the body was rough and there was no documentation, and price was ridiculous. Well, I finally picked it up this week for a decent price and started tearing in to it. The 305 is stock numbers match at 182K, BW is period correct (T5,WC) waiting on the serial check through a local gear center. Brakes are stock, rear diff is under review. Best of all I found trim sheet under the seat and roll cage marks under the carpet... I've got some documentation to find. Any help is welcome, and questions!
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
Thanks Mark. I tried sending you an e-mail yesterday with some pictures and info but it didn't go through. I would gladly accept your help - I'm in Red Deer. I'll PM you.
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
PM Sent! I am DYING to figure out which car this is so I CAN decal it up! Now that I see it was raced I'm thinking of fixing the panels instead of replacing, they all match from what I can see so far (VIN #'s).

FYI a few players cars going through auction at the new Area 27 track in Osoyoos,BC tomorrow including my white 33 car www.mackeeauctions.com
Interesting ... at the Auction, the 1991 Car #19 and the 1992 Car #1 which were recently bought in BC and transported to AB are up for sale. That fellow who bought those cars, bought a ton of them. I figured these two were some of the nicest and best documented. I wonder why they are up for sale. And I guess we all will watch what the hammer brings for price.

Only 2 of the 4 cars sold. #19 car was not there.
1) #1 Yellow Rob Fellows car didn't meet reserve. Was bid up to 50k
2) #85 car no reserve sold for 8k
3) White 1992 Players Promo car didn't meet reserve bid up to 21k
4) #33 Singha Beer sold 10500
#27 Budweiser car wasn't for sale
See photo Trevor Seibert(driver of the car) and new owner. I was really hoping it was going back in Trevor's hands.

Congrats on selling your car back to the original owner!
Car #1 Rob Fellows ... I wonder if that car was advertized incorrectly. It says
You just cant beat Number 1
Rob Fellows
1991 Players car with the correct sealed 92 engine
FULLY RESTORED!
This is where the legend started one of the best known Canadian Drivers of the last 25 years has been a Corvette winner in 24 hours of LeMans and Daytona, Nascar etc… this is where he started.
This car
selling at area 27 Oct 29th 2016
Ron Fellows was his brother, and the more successful of the two and moved onto Corvettes and such. $50K ... that seems ridiculous, but I could see that if it was Ron Fellows. For sure, there would have been others at that Auction to verify.
$21 for a non-raced 1992 is pretty good money. There was a lot of spare cars by 1992. The key for a promo car is having the documentation to back it up. Lots of cars made up like the poster cars.
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
#27 is Bill Drossos car! I bet he had that pulled out of a collection just to showcase it there. I know Bill is actively involved in Area 27 race track and was a racer back in the day of Player's Challenge.
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
Damn, I'd have bought both the #33 and the #85 car at those prices. The 50k number on the Ron Fellows car may have just been run up to the reserve to see if any buyers were in the room - auction companies have the right to ghost bid the cars up.
Different venue and fewer cars would likely have brought better prices.

The car was ROB Fellows ... Not Ron Fellow. They are brothers. This car to my knowledge was ROB's. In fact, Ron Fellows wasn't registered in 1992 that I have on my lists. I certainly don't want to take away from the car as it's a great example.
I wonder if the price was run up on purpose ... :-)
Here is a video from 1992. Move to 5:20 seconds or so. Watch for about 60 seconds. You can see Car #27 red Camaro Bill's car, and later on Rob Fellow's #1.

Mark this was not the car in the final shootout. It was confirmed by Ron Fellows that they used the backup car in this race. Here is the GM Docs for the #1 car

Digging through my archives ... I have history on this car ... 130498.
One of the previous owners did a full restore about 10-11 years ago. Back half of the car was replaced due to the accident in the last race.
Now seeing that accident and verifying the bodywork on the car would identify it ... which isn't bad as it proves the car belonged to Rob Fellows.
Since my info, there may have been more history on the car discovered such as the backup car being wrecked. Now to make things confusing ... in 1991, Rob Fellow's backup car was run by his brother Ron Fellows at a number of events including the 1991 shootout (which he won). The 1991 was also run in 1992. Perhaps the stories got mixed up?
The key is always the paperwork to support it. Maybe Rob Fellows provided a document that gives some of the history?
Whomever buys it needs to be comfortable with the info presented. I'm an information junkie. Lots of info and emails over the years.
Again ... I am not taking away anything on this particular car. $50K seems like huge huge money which makes the rest of our cars move up in value. So all good. But it begs the question ... why would it be worth $50K?
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
The damage on the backup car was consistent with the video footage. Jason who recently sold the car contacted Rob Fellows who confirmed that they changed the number on the backup car and ran it in that race.

Hi everyone. I just purchased the #33 Players car at the Area 27 auction. I have been following this thread since I first became interested in these cars and I've learned a lot! My plans for the car are to prepare it for vintage racing and preserve it without over restoring. I looked forward to being involved with these awesome pieces of Canadian racing history! I know there have been pictures of the car already posted but here it is!
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
I did bid on the #85 car but I was more interested in the #33. Also my trailer could only fit one car! I know it didn't sell for what Pat was wanting but he was very gracious and talked to me for a bit and was very helpful so thanks! I was also able to meet one of the original drivers who won in the car, Trevor Seibert, and had him sign it which was awesome. Over all it was an awesome experience and I've made some great connections already. I've also come in contact with one of the original mechanics that worked on the car when it raced, that's a very valuable resource as well!

Happy to see it go to good hands Joshua! Nice that you were able to get Trevor to sign it!

Now to see what the US market will bid on it. Will it bring more than $21,000CDN?
I watched lots of 1989 1LE stuff ... $20K USD would be top dollar.
Mark.
The #85 car was sold with no reserve so I'm not sure what's going on there? The other 2 never met reserve and thought they were heading back to Alberta.
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
FROM THE ARCHIVES ... 1991 Player's LTD. GM Motorsports Regulations. See page 12-13 for mention of R7U option code. This is a key piece of information to have in your car's documentation.
The other part that is important to have is the Technical Specifications document for each year. Good reference for part numbers and what's unique on the car. It's a lot of pages and wasn't easy for me to scan.
As I get time, I will scan the other year's doc's and upload. Perhaps organized into packages for each year. Need to see how much disk space I have for hosting files.
Re: If you have a Players Challenge Car, please post here. (RPO- A4U, 1LE or R7U)
Hey all,
I'm looking for a few things. I'm interested in purchasing any and all Players Series specific parts and memorabilia (jackets, flags, signs, etc.) Specifically parts for a 1991 Players Camaro. So if you have anything let me know!
Also, if anyone has or knows of some 'single stripe' wheels for sale, I'd be interested in those. Pictures of my car show it racing with white rims and I'd like to recreate those.
And I'm also looking for a 305 TPI to rebuild as a spare.
Yes, they have had it for a while and I have personally looked at it. When I spoke to Peter about it he stated it ran and drove. I believe it's Julie Wilkinsons car from 1988.
