I love this site and finally created an account. Lots of really helpful info here.
I have an 83 Z28 and 89 IROC. I was curious to get some opinions of what my 83 is worth. It’s one of the 3200 L69’s that came out that year with the 305 HO, 5 speed and 3.73 posi rear end. The care is rust free and that was the main reason I got it. I have restored the car and have plans to let my son have it when I leave this planet 20 years from now or I hope I make it to 70. J
Here is what I have done. The car was completely stripped inside and coated with Eastwood encapsulator and dyno matted. The care was take apart front fenders off, hood, new front bumper, doors removed and then pained with base coat clear coat.
All new suspension
All new breaks
Rebuilt T5 with swapped world class model
GM crate 350 4 bolt main 300HP
New intake and Holly carb
AC converted to R134
New radiator
New Starter
Everything on the engine is new.
New Console
New shifter
New dash cover
New Speakers
New Carpet
New door rubber all the way around
New Door panels
New Seats
New Exhaust front to back with headers and new Y pipe.
Wow! Extremely nice car even though honestly the original engine and more original interior would have helped the value. I still believe its worth upwards of 10k because it is so nice. I love it and would love to have it. Very nice car!
Thanks for the reply's! I kept the original seats and door panels. I just could not make myself leave the 305 in I did keep the original T5. The 300HP 350 makes it move..
Cant say I blame ya on the 305. Ive swapped them out for 350s in most cars ive had and will eventually swap it out in my current car. Again, fine a$$ car man I love it!

The car looks great but I'm more an original guy.
The car is SUPER CLEAN though. I was thinking $7000+/- as it sits.
Thanks again! My intention is to keep it 15/20 more years and enjoy it. I have 18K in the car to get it in the condition its in but I knew it would be a long time to ever see that money if ever. I spent 8K under the hood and tranny and 4K on the paint job. Just a fun hobby! Hopefully my son will enjoy it and maybe get the money back in 20 years. I plan to keep it in this condition. Beautiful car! I have no doubt you can get 8k-10k for your car. With the current market, third-gens are expected to rise in value so the skies the limit! Great color
Do hang on to that original Lear Siegler interior, as it will add value as much as the original engine and transmission. In fact, I think original engine is possibly the least important item to save, but do save it anyway. Times change.
When I first saw your photos I got excited thinking you may want to sell the original interior. But knowing your intentions you really need to keep it, no matter the condition of seats and door panels.

You know guys, this is a classic since it's over 25 YOA. The LSX is overplayed on Gen 1, 2, 3 cars and while you certainly wouldn't mod a 69 Yenko, it's still a pretty penny for cars this old, and this reworked. Keeping all that in mind, auction value, I could see 15k-20k. Street value I would say right person who knows 82,83,84's are harder to find, as iroc captures the attention, the value of this model may increase its future desirability, and dictate the value more, 12k would be easy. Again, folks want and pay for IROC. (I'm a speed density guy) I think since it's a family car for his son, sitting value and future are what your asking for, and not putting up a OBO classified, gents.
I think the 8-10k is weak offer. This isn't like a "you got cash, I need money, what's your best offer" but the man has put more into the car than that, so value is a tricky answer when putting money into old cars. Mechanically, I think it's value is well over 15k

Five killz- he's just asking opinions, no one is actually offering anything, and he's not selling. It seems as if he was just wanting opinions on what everyone would think it would sell for. In your area 8-10k may be weak, but in other areas in the country it may be worth more, some places, less. The time of year matters too.
Yes it is a BEAUTIFUL car, but keep in mind the value of anything is what someone would be willing to pay.
The general consensus here is, is that most would assess it in the 10k range.

Well said, definitely can't argue with such a beautiful camaro though. Here's mine just for fun
@BlackTA I really like the engine. With the headers and intake it really has some power verses the 305. It has far more power than the TPI 89 I have. @Five Killz Nice convertible!
...unfortunately, here in NC, Thirdgens don't seem to be selling in "our" price range/mod level. I've seen a few really good shape survivors sell, and of course cheap beaters will sell, but there are several similar condition cars out there that just don't seem to move. ....like many regions, the value of our cars is in originality. Whether it be a survivor or restored, they both seem to sell. But modded cars, no matter how nice, just seem to sit.
This will eventually change though, and it doesn't look like you're planning to sell anyway.
I'm in Lincolnton,NC. No plan to sell. I noticed watching Craigslist that most really nice ones over 10K sell but real slow. I see a lot of rusted and bad shape 2, 3 and 4K cars. I looked at 20 cars to find 2 with zero rust to restore. I have the original parts. The engine is really the big change but I enjoy the 350 way more. I plan to give the car to my son and at that point it will be 55 years old and hopefully be up by then to get back the money spent. So if I can have 20 years more fun and do that I'm good. I am almost done with an 89 and keeping it 95% original parts with some personal touch. I take the 83 out to local shows for fun. 89 engine is the same 350 just rebuilt.
