'84 C100 question

'84 C100 question

There is a thin brown wire from my C100, and the diagram says it's for the charging system. Is this the wire for the voltage gauge? Thanks

No, it is the wire to turn the alternator on. It should have a small amount of resistance so the alternator doesn't go over voltage. I think it also controls the idiot light, so if it isn't connected to the alternator it may show the light on the dash
