Has anybody dimpled the #8 slip joint on Hooker LT 2210's. Mine are hitting the lower A arm mount. I've notched the mount as much as I dare, and the tube is still touching. Any thoughts? Thanks.
You didn't put the mounts on the motor backwards by chance? left on the right and right on the left?
I had no Idea when I put my new motor back in the car that they were different. I got lucky and put them in correct. I put poly mounts in my clam shells too and had to do only minor trimming to get the Hooker long tubes in.
I would leave it alone if it is not touching. I tried to clearance my slip fit tube and the metal is so thin that it won't seal back up with the tube back in the header. Be careful if you try to clearance this tube. I would leave the slip fit tube in the header if you try and modify.
I did a search before I installed the engine. The pictures I found showed the longer clamshell on the passenger side, so thats what I did. Hoping it was right. The female part of the slip joint is still touching the a arm mount.
No wrecks yet. Project has been sitting for a few days. I will try a pry bar to see if I can move it enough. I'm running Afr 235 heads on a Motown 2 block. Did a search, some say Afr head exhaust port location can cause header fit issues.
When I get home tonight I will measure the distance between the motor and crossmember. Our setups are very close. Should be able to figure out why its not fitting.
My car was terrible. Tried switching the clamshells around then tried solid mounts and ended up buying a k-member. Still close but it doesn't move much
