Post every terrible trend you've seen on the board in the last 15 years, from painted interior plastic, to headlight mods, mesh intake screens, underglow lights, overt body and fascia modifications and kits, and any other completely useless, non-performance mod done in the name of "personalizing" your car (except for fuzzy dice).
Sadly, I feel these trends cheapened our vehicles.
i put this stupid bumpercover on my car years ago. it's laying in my back yard now and i cant give it away. nobody wants it, lol. cant say i blame 'em. the dumbest thing i ever did to my car. very glad its off now.
Yeah, probably not good to post pics of members rides- Guess, I didnt think this through. Was really looking for just something light-hearted but I could see this thread turning into a flame war.
There are always exceptions. Some mods that I usually find to be in poor taste, sometimes go well with the overall theme of a particular build.
But, in and of themselves, i GENERALLY do not like the following:
- headlight covers on a Camaro
- unless clearance issues dictate, any non-Formula hood on a Formula
- unless clearance issues dictate, any non-IROC hood on an IROC
- any substitution for a stock three-piece rear spoiler on a Camaro
- a 4th Gen interior transplant
there are awesome builds on TGO that have any number of these modifications. but, in and of themselves, i personally do not find these items to be pleasing to the eye.

Eh, I'll respectfully disagree. I don't like a big honkin 4" cowl on a car with a miniram, but I think an SS hood or 2" cowl looks pretty sharp and doesn't immediately need to be functional. LOVE RA1 hoods on birds. HATE RA2 hoods on birds. ...but again, I've seen builds nicer than mine using them, so, it's all good.

Agreed. -although I love the NO spoiler/cali Iroc look.
- a 4th Gen interior transplant
I like seats. I'm ok with consoles. ...while I'm blown away with the work to get the dash in, I just don't like the look.
I'm also not a fan of any kind of Halo or angel eye, LED, whatever headlights. But I don't like that on ANY car other than a BMW. That's not a thirdgen specific thing.
No need to sugar-coat it. The 98-up ram air hood looks stupid on anything, including 98-02 ram air Firebirds. They're the dumbest thing since they put nipples on Batman's suit.

I agree on this, the square headlights are what make a thirdgen a thirdgen imo. Halos look kinda tacky to me.
I read through this and found myself agreeing with parts and disagreeing with others. Funny. Shows how everyone's tastes differ. But I will add what nobody else has added yet and those are when people "customize" their vehicle by going down the accessory aisle at the parts store or Walmart. Cartoon window stickers, bullet hole decals, gaudy metal stick on letters, chrome windshield wipers, chrome stick on gas cap covers, chrome door handles, ridiculous shifter handles, obvious and poorly installed aftermarket fog lights, colored headlights, a ridiculous amount of negative camber (think 15*).
I know this car or at least one of these cars. It runs over here in Germany, known as the "OTP Vondraczeck", they say built by Karl Geiger. It is actually for sale again: https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/d...er=2&scopeId=C

Greetings,
Oli
I kind of like this one. Sort of "Lotus" inspired. Lot of creativity went into that!
Yes, I have to admit some of this is pretty funny.
Here's one that has been considered a "little strange" and is apparently the reason it was only made for half a year in 1988. Is off a Sport Coupe and now resides on my car.
Hindsite being 20/20, I can see where that's a little funny.....

I would love to see someone widen that spoiler so it is the same width as the high rise. I think with that done it could look good. If someone has one lying around send it to me and I will widen it.
In the spirit of self-deprecating humor that Ron started, I will submit the love-it-or-hate-it hood that I currently have. I do run a cowl hood because I need the clearance.

I've always hated that hood but for whatever reason it doesn't look bad on your car.

Because you're being polite!
I bought the hood 15 years ago when I was still in high school and thought it was awesome.....
I'll keep it until this engine dies and I can use an LS engine to lose some engine height.
