Im sure this is a beaten path but here it goes (again)- Im changing out the original 2.73 gears of an 1989' t/a w/ an electronic 700R4 Automatic, to a 3.42 & would like to get the speedo in sync. It hard to find speedo parts for the Electronic 700R4 specifically the bigger housing/VSS. Im told to go with the 17 & 44 tooth speedo gears by bow tie overdrives. Im showing the orig. VSS/housing (pictured below) to help in any way. If the 44 tooth I need is correct then Im told I need the "larger" speedo housing -Will the orig. tail shaft accommodate the larger speedo housing w/o needing replaced as well? Also, how do you clock these things if they just lock in place w/ the clamp/hold down in the picture? Looks like they only dial in one way. Lastly, where can you get these electronic VSS/housings, even used? I seen NONE on ebay. The only one I can find anywhere is bow tie overdrives for $75 dollars "used" + S & H. Thanks fellas.
You can change gears at will. Just set the cruise control via GPS and then adjust the box till the speedo reads correctly. Install takes about 20 minutes.
