I went with Year One. Color was good (IIRC doeskin), fit was good when it flattened out. Came in two pieces rolled up in a box. Ended up laying it out in the dining room for a week before installing it. This was awhile ago so I cant vouch for recent quality.
I used ACC from 1A,I went with the Mass Backing option(Original to the car) and Console Cutout(good starting point)
Why,1A =Free Shipping, heard ACC was the best quality.
Full ACC set with mass backing from RockAuto. I knew I wanted the mass backing, which I would highly recommend, and RockAuto had the best price. However I was also in need of a headliner and Summit had the best price on that, so I tried to get them to price match, but the part numbers were different.
When ordering the full set of ACC with mass backing from rock auto, did you receive the jute padding with it or pick that up extra? They aren't clear in the description and haven't gotten any response from them regarding the question.
Great luck finding this thread. Pondering this myself. I want to get the wife to buy me a new carpet set for Christmas so I need to make it easy for her. Amazon is the best way, find what I need and drop it into the "list" and she can order it.
Amazon seems to sell the ACC kits. The question is making sure I get the correct color. 1987 Trans Am GTA, red with tan interior. I keep seeing "medium Doeskin" as the correct carpet color. How can I confirm this?

I'm on Hawk's web site now and the complete set with mass backing is pricing out at 429.95 before shipping? And their headliner kit with visors and sail panels is priced at 299.00 before shipping..?

As far as the carpet, just get ACC from RockAuto. $295 complete front and back with mass backing plus shipping.
I'm guessing by the price you guys are quoting, you're buying the standard cut pile. Has anyone purchased the PLUSH CUT for 100 bucks more Rock Auto has?
And it looks like Year One has a Standard & Deluxe version too but both of their's is the same price

Rock auto currently has 2 different p/n's for passenger area carpet with console cut, 2633160 & 2362160. Anyone know the difference? it says Trans Am in the description for the 1st # but why would that make a difference?
Thanks

I just got the dove gray for my 89 iroc vert without the mass backing.... I don't find much of a difference from the stock carpet...just a little bit of rubber. Not sure it would make much of a difference in sound. Does come with the jute.
As for water, there are lots of holes in any carpet...for seats, belts, etc.... If it gets wet enough, water WILL get through to the floor pan. I am concerned that it then get out. Rubber backing makes it much harder. Had a grand am that once got very wet. Three weeks later the jute was still soaked....no way for the water to get out...had to take the seats out and pull up the carpet to get it to dry....staying wet will rot the floor.
I'll get pics of stock and acc no mass backing carpet ...happy with my choice...molded well..has the driver's side pads and console cut out...
Here is the ACC without the mass backing.... in Dove Gray. I cut a small piece of the original carpet from underneath the sill plate... the color looks a little off but i think that because the original carpet looks REALLY bad. The new carpet does seem to be close to the carpet on the console and doors. There really is no difference in the thickness in the replacement carpet without mass backing and the original....take a look.
I bought a different brand carpet back in 2011 and it was fantastic. Back then people tended to avoid ACC because the colors would fade & change quickly (like black turning green LOL!). Soon after that ACC bought the other company and that was the end of that.
I got the best, most expensive plush carpet offered. It's soft, deep, and harder to clean if it gets dirty. Trim and console kind of sink in so it makes fit and finish look good (less gaps). My late model truck has a sorry excuse for a carpet but it's easy to clean because there's really hardly anything there to be cleaned. I can see the benefits of each style.
I pulled my carpet out of the car, it has mass backing on it from factory. I just so happened to order that style carpet from rock auto. Attached pics are old and new. Jude padding is attached to be bottom. Any tips for mass backing style carpet?
