Rocker Arm?
Rocker Arm?
I am in the process of upgrading my stock 350 TPI motor. The motor will have an Accel intake, ASM runners, and ZZ4 cam. I am leaning towards 180cc AFR cylinder heads. My question is that I was planning to use a set of Comp roller tip rockers but I see AFR does not recommend using them. What would you recommend? I want to keep the centerbolt valve covers preferably stock height.

You might want a better cam than the zz4 kinda outdated. Why doesn’t afr recommend comp rr. I have a set on my afr’s no issues

I already have the cam. I am not sure why afr does not recommend the rockers unless it has to do with spring pressure. The magnum roller tip rockers are only rated to 350 lbs. and the springs are 360 lbs. at .600 lift.

Yes that is what I saw. I see several companies make narrow aluminum rockers that are suppose to clear centerbolt covers. Plus I am concerned about the aluminum rockers not lasting. Just wondering what others are using so I don't purchase something and find out that there still is issues.

You can get the heads with perimeter & center bolt pattern. I have the ultras with vette vc that I had milled to clear. You should be fine with a stamped cover. I also needed low profile polys just because the mag covers are low profile.

OK, so AFR is saying they want FULL roller rockers, not just roller tips on a stock style rocker. So it's difference in the fulcrum that they are worried about?

This is the response I got from Joshua at AFR when I questioned them
The reason why we highly recommend full roller rockers is for less ware and heat on valve train components.
Roller tip only rockers tend to cause premature ware on the valve train and create heat do to friction.
