History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Here's the company that's been selling the nos material cheap. Anyone on Facebook the past few days has seen it. It's the real deal and apparently they have bolster material as well
If anyone ordered bolster fabric, I'd like to see what it looks like.
Well I found Nathan on Facebook who is selling the CAMARO panels and seems he only has the dark blue/grey and orange panels left. My interior is called Saddle.
He is sending me a swatch of black, but he thinks he found out it is the thicker courser material from the 85-86 Chevy/GMC S10/S15 Sport interior that had TRUCK written on it like CAMARO. It should be here in a few days. My brother had that model S10 and I remember the feel of it. We shall see. Dont know about the blue.

I bought 10 yards of the saddle. Probably the 2nd most popular color than charcoal. The charcoal I only got maybe 3 yards of. I was going to find some nice matching leather for the bolsters.
I'm certainly not going to use all 10 yards.
This car is on ebay & I see its listed in the for sale section as well. I never realized the cloth had such a velour look to it. Its been many years since I saw one of these interiors in person & I didn't remember them looking like that. Or is it just because of the color?
I've got just enough factory BROWN Fabric to recover 2 seats and to make 2 door panel inserts. ( 5 "patches",...each patch has 6 rows of "CAMARO" logo script. )
As I just began to write why I thought 'the technician' s fabric wasn't NOS,....... I realized something I ASSUMED when I first saw the pics is not what I thought it was.
16 rows of Logos per column is why I thought this stuff was knock-off. But it's not 16 rows top to bottom,... someone cut the first row and 1/2 off the top.
As I began to write this reply I actually looked at the picture and it sure looks like the lightest "CAMARO" row was cut off the top,... it was left-over light grey "CAMARO" row of fabric at the top and not the "border" stitching as I so quickly ASSUMED when I first saw the pic. (white stitching as seen at the bottom of the fabric.) If that's true than the darkest row was probably also cut off: or 18 rows of "CAMARO" = how the NOS material was produced.
I was wrong. Not the first time I posted sumthin' stupid in haste but Hopefully; the last time for a long time. to: the technician,.......Sorry for the mistake.

John,
That is good news for everyone & you started this thread way back when. It is a great thread & when I posted my reply to you about this material, I wanted to learn something from your post & now I did. Thank you.
The exciting news for me, after years of hunting, I FINALLY found a set of tan Lear seats. This is critical because the trim piece are colored. I locked in a price with very little details for seats & door panels. When I arrived to my surprise, they were POWER!!!! To most people, no big deal but for me, a huge score. Came out of an original yellow car with gold accents (now a purple car). Al the other plastics in the car were grey.....very glad I not only was able to save the seats but add them to my stash. Yes, they are re dirty & need recovered but finding a mint set in any color is going to be very difficult for anyone.

Those seats look like they are in really good shape. I'd give them a super good cleaning and see where you're at, before recovering. Great score, Rob!
I think you need "42" Camaros. Depending how they measure a yard....that might be overkill
Rob, I think you're spot on with your estimate. I looked at the photos of the seats/doors I'm wanting to recover and counted the 'Camaros' and sure enough it's right at 40ish. Hope we hear back from Technician soon.

They sent me what they have for black bolster, but it was more course, It was what they used in the S10 4x4s Sports back in the mid eighties. My brother had an 87 with optional interior that said TRUCK all over it like the LS seats, and that material is what this material is. Surely someone has a soft felt like material that would match closely. I have a picture from the factory of the headliner stock supplier,. maybe I can trace it back to the original supplier..of course like everything they are probably out of business since we are a warehousing country now, instead of a manufacturing one. Ill post a pic when I get home of that materai.

Looks kinda' like what was used on the early Firebird LSC Seats.......
My first Iroc back in 1987 was a 1985 Blue one with LSC seats. Sold it and regret for ever and last week I found this 1985 Yellow and bought it. It have the RPO label missing. How can I know how many this ones with the same options and configuration have produced in 1985?
