Re: Parking Lot Paparazzi

There was a member on here about a year ago or so that had a GTA transported from Florida and it actually fell off on Northbound I-95. They had to chase the driver of the truck down.
Made a God Awful mess of the car.
I prefer enclosed Reliable Auto Carriers....you pay more, but worth it.

Re: Parking Lot Paparazzi

Finally snapped a pic of this IROC. It's been in this Guys yard for ohhh about 25+ years. It's like a mile from me, in the same subdivision.
Has maybe moved 2 times a year. Sits in his yard all year long through Winter. I took a close look at it earlier this Summer and the clear coat is peeling off and there a piece missing outta the bottom left corner of the hood.

Gonna be the "technically police" on that pic

Back when our cars were new, If any NEW third gen fell off the factory auto carrier back then and was "totaled" out, Then a new one could be re-ordered !!!

Now in 2017 if a mint LOW mile car fell off a auto carrier like that GTA did and the car was totaled out, Then that's it !!!

Even with an enclosed trailer I was scared the driver was going to scrape my door, mirror, etc.. he was super careful and went really slow.. even watched out for the front end and put blocks down to make sure it cleared..

Yeah, they don’t make these cars anymore so shipping is a little freaky!

Re: Parking Lot Paparazzi

When I moved to Florida from Connecticut in 2014 (happily moved back) my car took a ride down i95 on a car hauler like that. Fortunately it was in the middle on the bottom row but I never like how little clearance there is from the roof of the car to the second level.

When the guy went to take my car off, the low hanging exhaust got caught on something and stopped the car dead in it’s tracks, not the drivers fault. The muffler mount broke the day before I moved and didn’t have time to fix it.

Re: Parking Lot Paparazzi

A Friend directed me towards this one today. It is an IROC with the 350 TPI. It’s sitting Behind an electrical repair shop. The Shop owner came out and told me the Lady that owned the building, owns the Car and wants $3000 for it...
I guess it runs well as they did some engine repairs on it.
I reached under the drivers side and went to press on the floor and my hand went into a big hole.
I’d give her $300 to tow it away and salvage whatever parts I could from it.

Re: Parking Lot Paparazzi

For $3000 I hope you get at least 2 wheels that match

Had a black 88/89 RS convertible tail me on the way home the other day. I knew immediately it wasn't an IROC or Z28 because he couldn't keep up with my 2.8! I got in the turn lane and he ended up pulling next to me in the lane to my right. Didn't say anything, but was still rocking the same mu-double l-et he had when he bought the car!

I am going to go back Tuesday and see if she will take $300-$400 and save what body parts and interior I can.
I highly doubt she will take it but it’s not worth anymore than that.

Ok, so they're not thirdgen; however, these were in the back of a pickup truck right by my office on Wednesday. One is a Dart block.

Pretty funny.. ladies that drove third gens back in the day were crazy..

First IROC that made me want one when I was around 10 was a black with red decals driven by this older kid’s sister in my neighborhood and it’s right where we had to wait for the bus..

She had a sticker on the bumper that said “don’t like my driving? Call 1-800 EAT ****”

Something intimidating about that when you’re a kid in the 80s..

How is this for a parking lot pic!
This car goes to our local Cars and Coffee and we were both there this day. Now I find out he lives in the same town as me. I will have to chat with him @ the next show.

Oh it is even better than that, it is painted with chalkboard paint and he places a bucket of sidewalk chalk in front of the car for all to enjoy!

Well there is something kinda cool about that, it's like a huge billboard for the 3rd gen flag. Young kids growing up into car enthusiasts will have those 3rd gen lines and good, fun memories in them. Todays young kids will know what a 3rd gen is when it drives by.

All this time watching this thread, and I have never had anything to contribute, until today.

saw 2 different thirdgens, on the same day

First a Firebird at a repair shop, has an LT1 style Ram Air hood. From this angle, that rear spoiler just doesn't fit with the rest of the car.

And at Autozone, a 86 Iroc

Not a parking lot, but you guys checked out Cobra Kai the new Karate Kid spin-off on YouTube Red?

Well the original Johnny and Daniel are in it and Johnny drives a bird!

Ok, so they're not thirdgen; however, these were in the back of a pickup truck right by my office on Wednesday. One is a Dart block.

That moment when you realize the contents are worth more than the truck.

1968 RA II/Automatic XW motor (front) & complete 1971 455HO/4spd WC motor (rear). Both sold for 10k each.

I spotted this bad boy in the Home Depot parking lot. Owner must be a badass. Just kidding, it's mine

Found this one surprisingly straight and decent paint just sitting up. I will be asking if it can be acquired.

Wow that white TA! The RS is a 305 auto. Paint and body is perfect just hope I can make a deal. Would love to do a 5.3 swap in it.
