Best budget mods

What is the best bang for your buck suspension mods geared for drag racing as far as suspension wise goes? With the cool air finally settling in here I'm wanting to take my GTA to the track to let her stretch her legs a bit and I figured why not go ahead and do a little work on my suspension before I go. The problem with that is Christmas is right around the corner and I don't have as much spare change lying around like I usually do. Lol can you help a girl out?

Don't care what anybody else says, but the best thing you could ever do to a car that sees drag strip time is a set of rear drag radials. A good sticky tire will undoubtedly outshine any other part you could add to your suspension, and probably make the biggest difference as far as your track time goes.

Re: Best budget mods

If you only want to drag race you could take off the front sway bar. Get some rear lower control arm relocation brackets, especially if you’re lowered.

Get tires balanced, get alignment, and make sure tires are set to the same; the less resistance the faster you
go. Strip the interior it's free

I do have radials. As far as I can tell everything is aligned and balanced.

Your not gonna see small ammounts of off alignment with your eye, those two things are a pretty big factor for dragging imo. It's cheap and can make a big difference.

what I meant by as far as I can tell is going down the road the car doesn't lean in any direction. I can take my hands of the wheel and it stays right in the center

Aftermarket rear lower control arms, Founders makes some nice 3 way poly joint ones and good price... pick up a panhard bar to complete setup... if your car is lowered (not stock height) get adjustable ones... and the relocation brackets for rear lower control arms will help with better traction...

Get a new Torque arm bushing (poly) and that will help too...

Do you drive it alot on the street?

if you already have drag radials then I would invest in New lower control arms, or some adjustable rear shocks so you can get it to have a 50/50 and it will help make it squat on a launch and stay down. I have non adjustable Lakewood drag struts and shocks. 50/50 shock and 90/10 strut but I don't drive it much on the street alot. Mabey 1k mikes a year. If you have stock front struts that are worn a bit it will actually help. And disconnecting the front sway bar does help a bit. Just make sure to reconnect it when you drive it home.

Also dependent on hp... frame connectors will help drop 60 foots as well.

And of course any way to shed weight always helps and it's free. My car is still a full interior and a roll cage.

pic of a good launch 1.60 60 foot. Street/strip car. Squats very well. 3380lbs race weight

Have you ever got to race at the drag strip? If not one of the best things to do is know what’s going on and how to stage so you’re not nervous. And I can relate, after all these years I’d rather work on my car and spend money than try to loose weight cause it never seems work.

I've taken it twice the first time was more or less just making passes and the second I had issues with the transmission governer kicking itself out of first gear but that problem is fixed now. I do street race it all the time though.
