Attempting to refurbish recaro seats

I’m going to clean-up my recaro seats in my 1984 anniversary Trans Am. I bought replacement seat cushions that are meant for a mustang. According to another thread on this site, the cushions will work on the Trans Am recaros. The driver seat has a tear in the upper side wing. I bought the car from another member, and I discovered that he left a replacement seat cover to fix the problem. I don’t know where he found it, because those seat covers sure aren’t available today. Anyway, I pulled the seat and dismantled it. I removed the Lowe seat cover and gently washed it. All kinds of dirt came out. I also found a 1965 quarter. I wonder how long that’s been hiding it the seat.

Been watching these for awhile. Those are not that bad. One of the better sets out there that is not a super low mile car.

Re: Attempting to refurbish recaro seats

Very nice Punkmaster!

I finally finished mine. They are far from perfect, but they look acceptable. They feel great too. I wasn't aware how bad the seat cushions were worn until I drove the car with new foam rubber in the seats. Driving my Trans Am is so much more enjoyable now.

I found replacement seat cushions from this thread:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...placement.html

The TMI cushions seemed too big to me. I couldn't get the side bolsters to fit, so I stuck with the original ones. The foam rubber in the sides wasn't the problem anyway. The center cushions still seemed a bit big, but I had enough fabric to make adjustments.

Re: Attempting to refurbish recaro seats

All this progress everyone is making and all mine are just sitting. I still need to find the right dark graphite fabric for my 86 seats. Same shade as the carmine red 85-86 center. Already tried and failed with hawks. Now onto classic.
