Car: 1983 Trans Am 25th anniversery Daytona 500 pacecar
Engine: 5.0=305 Cross-Fire... for now
Transmission: 700r4... for now
i need a rear-end rebuilt/refurbish list

my trans am broke down making very weird noises,, i talked to my frat brothers and i can get and parts i need so i need a list of what i need to refurbish my rear end piece by piece... oh and i have a 3:73 posi rear

easiest way to get a complete list of everything you need would be to take it apart and then post everything that's broken and then someone here could list the last few pieces you'd need. you might as well figure a install kit will get you most everything you need except the broken parts. i'd go with a spacer and not a sleeve.

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73
ede is right. the spacer that he mentioned, ratech pn 4111, solid pinion spacer.

If you're planning on more HP in the future, you can beef up the rear with a few other bits:

rear girdle (summit, jets, TA performance)
main cap studs (TA performance, maybe ARP)
zytanium cross shaft (not really necessary, but I thought i'd mention it)


As far as parts, a complete "kit" would be your best bet. I don't think they usually have your outer wheel bearings & seals, so you'll have to get those seperate. The kit should contain your outer/inner pinion bearing & race, carrier bearing & race, and shims. If you're replacing your ring& pinion (which I'm guessing your are, as that may be what broke), then you'll need that and some special tools to set your pinion depth and backlash, etc.
