Socks'n Shoes for my 83 iRocZ road racer

I just bought my first 3rd get machine and I'm super siked! I plan to race it in Champ car and AER endurance series on tracks like VIR, Watkins Glen etc... Can anyone recommend a good wheel/ tire configuration that won't break the bank? Its a fully prepped track car with a 350ci 400HP motor. I need to buy like 10 wheels and tires... thnx!!

No, that is a customer's car - just happened to be the right pic to show your year car with our wheels.

This is my personal car:

Are you looking for a specific size? The GTA crosslace wheels are the lightest wheels that came on third gens from the factory (16lbs) and make great track wheels. They're only 8" wide though, which may too narrow for a 400hp track car.

I agree if you are stuck with 16" wheels in your racing class. But they can't fit big brakes nor is there any real tire options that 17" and larger have the advantage of giving you. 275 is a huge step up over a 245 tire too.

thank you both for the feedback! I'd love to hear what wheel /tire combo you recommend. I'm not restricted with wheels/tires except to keep costs down. I think I have lots of affordable TIRE options for 17" wheels and I know we have C4 discs in the back so i think I need 17"... not too sure on the width though. I know wider is better but I also need to learn the car and i wouldn't want start out with Fred Flintstones... I appreciate your feedback!

PS. I'm running in the Chump (now called Champcar) series and am new to driving a heavy chevy (most of my track experience is in Miata and E30 BMW with some light time in a Bondurant Mustang years ago...)
