Old shoes, New shoes.. for now

Well...My 90 GTA got a little makeover..

only for now! I finally Realized that my tires were from 98, my brakes haven't been changed in most likely over 10 years and i've got brake dust built on the rim from since they were changed. I purchased the car from a buddy who has had it sitting for the past 10 years... So you can only imagine how bad the tires/rims look.

I got to searching on CL and found a set of torque thrust, with brand new tires.. literally been driven for 5 miles. The guy just hated the rims after he put them on, and they've been sitting in his garage since. Paid $900.. couldn't beat it.

Started raining on the drive home

No pitting, nothing, just need cleaned. Still have the little rubber hairs.

My GTA wheels are just... unexplainable. Pretty bad pitting, the gold has got spots that have been rubbed off.. etcetcetc depressing subject Someones wrong doings.

It's not a bad look, 17in rim now and a little more tire under the rear, so i don't mind it for the time being. The cars getting a new paint job, the underbody refinished and the motor bay completely re-done in the winter, which is when i'll be changing to the GTA wheels again.. after they get refinished.

Needs more low and deeper dish versions to set it off.

No, Lower it, NAO.

jk, I get you man, looks decent. Just sits too high for my taste. Still the Crosslaces redone right would look way better than those wheels.

Also why not redo em yourself? Get some aircraft stripper for the loops, sand the inner spokes the best you can and recoat? Just removing the clearcoat from the outter lip leaves a decent shine.

Re: Old shoes, New shoes.. for now

I like the torque thrusts for sure man as i wanted a set awhile back but like lsjuan0068 said if the car was lower it will look killer. its just our opinion tho. I ended up keeping my GTA rims on my camaro as I wanted as stock sleeper as I can as its what im goin for. I got my GTA's redone and omg what a difference man. You wont go wrong keeping them and redoing them. Heres some pics of before and after and you can see what a good refinishing place can do to them

BEFORE AND THIS WAS HE BEST UNBENT ONE

This is a typical looking staggered set and looks great that way so don't trip. The rear looks to be right but the front could stand to be lowered a bit.
