87 GTA Nice price or crack pipe

Not mine, no affiliation. Just saw it and wasn't sure where to put it. Please move or delete if it's against board rules.

So much wrong with it

Re: 87 GTA Nice price or crack pipe

The mileage might hurt it at that price, unless of course the carfax has an extremely thorough and clean history in terms of maintenance. Clean car though, looks really nice. Not digging the solution to the center console, though lol. Just take the time and re-epoxy it...

I agree with you about the console. I've not seen one repaired that way.

Strut towers seem ok so maybe the underside is in decent shape too. Should be pretty easy and relatively cheap to put it right. It's got the roof console too, that's kinda neat. Mostly useless, but a cool thing to have.

You're right Tom. No vents in the fender on GTAs and I'm not 100% sure but I don't think grey interior came with that paint color. The white bird on the tail lights is not GTA either

And the emblems are the wrong color, and the horn button is wrong... Considering how absolutely trashed most cars like this are, it's probably decent for the money, but this isn't one for the discerning collector/enthusiast. It's a flashy driver with a driver pricetag.

Those are GTA seats, used from about 1986 to 2002.

No. Just... No.

Ultima seats (aka GTA seats) have a central post headrest with various adjustments.

The seats in the subject car, are early 4th gen seats. Note the big bulbous headrests, and the wrong shade of gray leather. From the headrest down, they are similar, but they are not the same thing.

Yep 4th gen, I have a set of Ultima GTA seats and a set from 4th gen. Very similar until you get to the headrest.

Re: 87 GTA Nice price or crack pipe

I just looked through the article, turns out this particular bird was being sold at a car lot I passed every day on the way to work. Looked at the pictures and knew it wasn't a GTA from the fact all the emblems were silver and not gold. At 30mph and 30ft away it did look nice. Never got a chance to look at it up close though, disappeared off the lot. Whoever got it probably is still enjoying it nonetheless.

Re: 87 GTA Nice price or crack pipe

You can find a much nicer third gen for $5k. This has almost nothing going for it. It's not a GTA, just a Trans Am. It's got a 305, automatic, no aerowing, and high mileage. The only plus is that the paint appears to be in good shape.
