Wheels and TiresNeed help with wheels or tires? Got fitment issues? Have questions about tire performance and handling? Ask all of those questions here!
I'll never understand non-80's-style wheels on our definitive 80's-style cars.
Tire choices are drying up for stock wheels. And most the selection of good looking, direct fit wheels that were available in the '90s are no longer in production. The reality is that the primary source of affordable new wheels are for modern cars with high offset so a lot of people end up with those wheels.
there are a lot of very ugly 80s styled wheels as well, the chrome trailer wheels are the worst of all time imo.the feather/20 slot 15" wheels with no lip are horrid, the kitt bowling ball wheels are nasty and small diameter snowflake wheels leave a lot to be desired.that being said i do like the formula high tech turbo wheels(20 slots) with the lip and the cross lace gta wheels and am a big fan of several bbs/bmw style wheels.
i hate the non dish 15" version of these but i dont mind these rims though:

Those are pretty bad ***. I like them a lot I just want to stay away from anything that looks like the honeycomb rims because it reminds me too much of the trans am
They make a 17 inch cross lace wheel now. I run c5 wheels on mine basic grey not really pretty but light and my tires fit, 4th gen rear out of a 00 Trans am
what size are those? car looks great i"m debating on these or the s71's in 17x11 for the rears
Thanks. They are 18x10. I debated going qith 18x11 but i prefer the wheels tucked rather than a flush look. I had my 9" rear end shortened 2" on each side to give a deeper lip and had to go with a high pad wheel to fit the gen 6 camaro brakes.

Looks great neighbor. I have to find some 18" tires, already have my rims.
My grandpa use to say. "Wheels make the car". But i also think the wheels go with the overall style of your car. Im new to thirdgen but ill say all your varieties of builds look great with the wheels you chose. Me though im into old school nascar for my car. I went Bassett Racing.
not digging the black wheels on much of anything, reminds me of Mennonites approach to car building.paint everything black, done(windshield and headlights included, lol kidding)
if you are 10-20 feet away from anything with black wheels they look the same to me,could be my 55 yr old eyes too.polished lip with black looks great.IMO of course.
is this street legal? it definitely is cool as heck, you need some hand painted numbers and decals
Wheels are bassett inertias. 15X8 with 3.5" backspace.
Yes car is street legal. And yes i do plan numbers and decals. But im still trying to get it finished first. Roll cage, big brakes, new rear end are on my list of todo's. Plus i dont mind letting the paint cure a little longer before putting decals on. Thanks for the like. Wasnt sure how it would ve received... Only just finished the body and paint work about a month ago.
Actually its the fiberglass body panels from the 1980's ASA and ARTGO racing series made by Fivestar bodies.
Ive got a build thread under drag racing and autocross you can see it a little. The panels are made for a race car and took a lot of trimming and fitting to make work. But as you can see totally doable.
Baloughs car as seen here was actually on their catalog page.
the ugliest wheels you can have on a third gen are those feather 20 slot 15" pontiac wheels, god almighty they are ugly as sin.
i have a set of original 16" high tech turbo wheels but they are never on the car, they are not what i really like.anything 18" or smaller looks great
on a third gen,ill be the first to admit i dont like the "donk" look AT ALL.............
