Under the front corner of the fender to the body under the "battery tray" on each side. These are for the Camaro only,... Firebird used a different style brace in this spot.
Is the one you're talking about round bar with a flat on each end, or stamped steel? Any numbers stamped in it?
There are two round bar rods from the radiator support to the front bumper/fender flange on Firebirds. There's also a stamped steel brace that looks similar to the Camaro fender braces that sometimes runs from the back of the rad support to the driver's side battery tray, but honestly haven't seen that brace on a Firebird, only Camaros.
In my parts I took off my car bin. I know its from my car because the color matches (I haven't gotten any parts from a Teal third gen, ever) and it was in the location from all parts I took off.
I have two of them that came off my 92 TA as well. Never did find where they went. Those pictured are not what I have. Looks similar, but large holes on both ends. About 8" long?
Not to be a dick or anything, but if you guys posted pics of your mystery braces, I can probably tell you where they go. The alternative is I dig through the twenty some odd boxes stored in three different places to photo all the possible braces that could match the vague descriptions.
Not being a dick, "Hey, can either of you post a picture?"

In either case, hopefully John has one as I too would have to dig through 20 boxes in multiple places to find where I put them 14 years ago. I found them during one of the moves in the last four years, but no idea where they are now.
The lower fender braces from the Camaro aren't used on the Firebird, but plenty of other similar braces are used on the Firebird. Many of those braces could be confused for being the same part if a person didn't have them side by side.
Also those exploded diagrams tend to throw pieces into the diagram wherever there is room, with no regard for where they actually go on the car. I know there are braces on the front of Firebirds that aren't even in those diagrams.

Hey, No offense intended. It's just a lot easier for the person asking to photo the exact brace they have, and share it to the forum, than it is for me to describe every similar brace in the car, or try to track down an example of each brace in photos, to ask if this or that brace or another is the one a person is talking about. Help me, help you...
Is this your brace?
Or maybe this one?
I could do this all day, but it'd save a lot of time if you had a photo of the actual part you're asking about.
Well this post has a few more replies since I've looked at it.
That is like the brace that came off my car, very similar to the ones I posted a picture of several posts ago. If you want a picture of my exact brace, which looks like the one you posted, I'll get it when I get home.
Just to note, this DID come off my car. This point is not up for debate. I just dont know where it came from.
That Brace Mounts Just Below The Passenger Side Strut Mount To The Frame.
Actually, NO, that's yet another brace. Hence the reason I asked if the brace in question is stamped steel, or round bar, or if it has a number stamped in it. Because there are a bunch of different braces depending on if the car is a Camaro or Firebird, or how the car is equipped. A person could take all day posting pics of braces and explaining where they go, but it's all just guesswork without seeing the brace in question.

That brace supports the front of the fender/front bumper from the radiator support, as shown in the photo below. There's one on each side, and the part numbers are stamped in them. Left and Right are different numbers.
I've got 3,200+ photos of my project 91 Firebird during tear down and resto. I'm hopeful that when it comes time to reassemble everything, I will have enough references to do the job. The more info you can give mne about the brace in question, the more likely I can tell you accurately where it goes.

Wow, I've never seen those before and I have a 91 and 92 Bird, though both were in front end accidents before I got them, so they may have been discarded when repaired. What is it attaching to on the bumper cover side? have a shot looking forward?
Awesome! That's the exact braces I had. Unfortunately I've looked through every spot I know of and can't find them. I'm sure they will turn up as soon as the car is out of paint.
Isn't that how it always works? I've got an alternator around here somewhere, all freshly rebuilt but with the threaded mounting ear stripped. Put it on the back burner until I could get around to ordering a Helicoil set. Finally got the Helicoil, been looking for the alternator for a few months now. I'm sure it's here somewhere, but there's no reason to get excited since the car is completely disassembled right now for paint/body, and I'm still stripping surface rust and spraying epoxy. I'm sure it'll turn up before I NEED it, just odd that it vanished.

anyone lose tools WHILE they are working on the car??
i do that all the time. get up to get a different socket or something and put a wrench down somewhere then get back to work and say - "Hey, where'd i put that damn wrench". then i waste 10 minutes looking for it.
good thing i don't make a living being a mechanic. LOL

I've wasted HOURS looking for the tool I "just had"
