I was checking out Hot Rod TV last weekend, and they installed a hood scoop on that black Mustang GT that one of those guys owns. It looked pretty sharp. I think it was a replica of the early Boss shaker scoops. It was a kit that looked pretty easy to install. I wonder why there isn't a kit out there for the f-bodies?

Yeah I saw that too...unfortunately, when he rev'd the car, the 'shaker' didnt shake! Not to mention he had to remove his strut tower brace, as he could no longer have it on the car due to the shaker now being in the way, plus he removed a cold air kit that he had just installed 2 weeks prior.
So in fact, he actually walked backwards to get to where he had already been. Personally i would have left the CAI and the STB, as they would be a better combination of upgrades, than a big plastic box that doesn't shake.
It's quite a simple concept really...the shaker hood is a little contraption bolted onto the engine and protrudes through a cut out section of the hood. When you hit the accelerator, the shaker hood, well, shakes. Functional ones also draw air in through the vents in the shaker, so it's not just entirely cosmetic...

The bandit had a stock flat spoiler. The spoiler on that 92 V6 Firebird is a Stalker Mustang Spoiler that we sat on the back of the Firebird.

Thank you for the kind words, a friend of mine is considering picking up a 1990 Bandit II car, from a dealer here in town, i dont think the none functional shaker hood on the car looks right, but owell.
I came this close to buying a 1979 Trans Am, but I got my '87 z28 instead. The Trans Am looked good on the outside (it was dark brown), but the interior was pretty bad. The guy wanted $2,000 for it. My car was in much better shape so I got it instead. I still love the second gen TA's though.
lbrohez I envy you that is one of my dream cars.....what was your address again . Anyway I like the shaker hood alot it adds to the look of the car alot I think go for it if you can find it.
Shaker looks cool sucks that it wouldn't shake though takes the fun out of it. I'd still rather have a ram air II those are the hottest looking add on body work I have seen for the third gen firebirds. How many bandit II's were made? Are the valuable as a collector at all? I don't think I have ever seen one.
Just to clarify, the new Macj 1's don't have funtional shaker hood scoops. They do shake yes, but the scoop's connected to an airbox behind the headlight, it doesn't suck in air from the scoop.

Actually they do suck air in through the scoop, unfortunatly it is then routed down around the drivers side through an airbox and into a throttle body on that side of motor. Not quite as efficient as a direct ram air setup but at least its not totally show like most scoops these days.
the only way i might put a shaker on my car is if i decided to put a 455 into my dad. my old man has a 455 but i dontl know if hell sell it or give it to me.
I noticed that this was a shaker hood for 3rd gen post.. I have an 89 Chevy camaro and am looking to get a shaker hood for it. Does anyone here know where i can get one, if they dont what year/model car hood can be substitued for the hood. I have recently done an engine swap and now i dont have enough room under my hood for a air filter had to get a tiny one till i can find a hood. If you have any information that will help feel free to send me a message on the post or on 3rdgen. Thanks
I don't know where you could find a shaker scoop for a third gen. Maybe a cowl induction hood would be easier to find. Have you looked into one of these? Do you like the way they look?
