that’s what I did today.. just have to have a front plate for the cameras the state put in..
So won't you get a ticket from the first police officer or camera that notices? Have you looked into collector insurance with a mileage restriction? Some states allow that and it let's you forego emissions and any inspection.
Mass probably won’t allow no safety inspection and they are maniacs about having two plates.
They have a year of manufacture form for RMV and you can put classic plates on except for the 80s green letter plates because in the 80s there was only a rear plate..
The reasoning is because of the new automatic tolls that use your front plate to send you a bill..
If I have an eZpass transponder that should suffice, but yes typically they can give you a ticket..
My play would be:
”Just got the car painted and a new grille put on, there’s no holes for a plate”
”Car gets driven 1000-1500 Miles/year to shows and cruise nights only”
Then I would install the plate with the old grille, snap photos, and they’ll let you off in court if you comply quickly..
At that point I guess I’d have to run a front plate.. maybe be a grille swapper like Arnold..
Since I'm hating this Ford F150 I bought, I'm thinking about putting my USA-1 plate on the front. That should **** off the Ford faithful. BTW, I'm also thinking about getting a vinyl sticker for the tailgate that says, "I wish I was driving a Chevy"

i'm getting ready to go through this same scenario , VA requires a front plate. i don't really want to drill holes in my grill or bumper and don't have a spare grill so i used some neodymium magnets to mount the front plate. pops off and goes back on in seconds

In NJ, no more inspections for vehicles 95 and older. Only 96 and newer need to have an inspection sticker and they do not check safety only emissions by plugging into the OBD port. No codes you pass.
