Yes, I have been talking with Dynamic EFI representatives of the estate since Oct. I recently, last week spoke with them again several times and we are starting to get to the final stages with any luck. The estate has been tied up in probate court. You can watch more on my site about all this.
Thank you, I never had a chance to talk to Bob personally,but by all accounts he was an all around great guy helping people get their projects running, I hope I can say I had that much lasting impact on people when it's my time to go.
If you could post here or message me if/when the buisness resumes I would greatly appreciate it. I had planned a whole project around an ebl flash 2, and all the other options have major drawbacks.
IMHO, the EBL was the best things going for any CFI and TPI car. It has/had a lot to offer in the way of tuning capability to include NOS. Bob was a legend in his own time and did a lot for the entire community. I've known and did business with Bob for a long time. I never saw that he actually did a complete tune for anyone, start to finish but maybe that happened for somebody? He did help a lot of people with there tuning issues with the EBL since he developed the EBL and knew it inside out. There are a few really tuners here on the forum that can and do help people and hopefully will continue to help people in need.
Agreed. I hadn't heard about complete tuning, but I had heard him helping people out with advice even when it wasn't his products. That's real dedication. Hopefully his legacy will continue with other mentors. And hopefully his products as well.

The GMC Motorhome ('73-'78) community has been using the EBL for years on our Olds 455 and 403 ex-Quadrajet engines with great success, way before FiTech and Holley entered the market. He's helped me directly as we developed WinLog-ebl and with others on a myriad of issues. And it's great that there's a real effort to continue his work and make it available again. There's lots of those old motorhome owners out there battling the Quadrajet!

Bob R provided the Serial stream protocol, Devtechnics created WinLog, provided and helped test the driver software configuration, and the VBasic files to modify the driver software for any serial stream. The driver logic to convert the serial stream byte values to real values was written by Randy Van Winkle and me.
I'm happy to share what I have. As part of the driver code, the developer added some stored points that let us implement three resetable trip meters for MPG, Gallons, and Miles. I am using a software virtual com port to display and record both the WUD and Winlog datalogs simultaneously and which can be combined in a single Excell spreadsheet.

VB? WOW! Now that's a blast from the passed. I do like some of the features of that app, but the wood grain is really dated. Was I looking at something rather old? Thanks for the info.
Oh, OK. LOL Too funny. Is that dash user definable 100%? I always asked Bob when I talked with him about changing some features on What's Up, but it never happened. On your wood grain dash, I really like the digital and analog feature of the gauges, nice feature. No, I actually saw it on here from 2023 and a post that Bob made referring to your dash calling it "Nifty" software. Being able to configure things the way you want it would be awesome and display what you want and make it sizeable. DASH

The dash is extremely customizable. If you download WinLog from Devtechnics (it's free now) you'll get the manuals for WinLog and WinLogView. To make it work with the EBL stream you'll need our driver. WinLogView is really great; I have it set up so that each graphed parameter (you can choose the ones you want) has a portion of the Y-axis.
With WinLog and the instructions to build a driver, you can take any serial stream and display/log it. Unfortunately it's not possible to reszize the dash display - meaning that if you use it on a tablet, for example, you have to move the gauges, etc. to the part of the screen that Winlog will display on that device. If that makes sense. The gauges, digital readouts, etc., are infinitely scalable.
PS: I just checked, and the driver is built with Visual Studio, not VB
PPS: the dash on the GMCMH is wood grain - so there's that.
Thank you for that info. I like the way the gauges display the analog and digital display which makes it easy to see at a quick glance what's going on vs. looking at What's Up display at the bottom in a graphic and small numbers divided at the top of each column. Makes it difficult when driving to quickly see that display.
That gauge display was constructed by inserting an analog gauge (meter), then a digital gauge, and moving the digital gauge to be on top of the analog gauge in that location and telling both of them to pick up the MPH parameter. You can then copy those gauges and just change the parameter to pick up RPM for the second gauge. And so on.
You can have several dashboards and add links to move to the next one, etc. When I was troubleshooting I set up a dashboard with digital gauges for all the parameters from the ebl serial stream that we configured. You can easily stretch a digital gauge to fill the whole screen if you need to see it from the back seat. You can also insert a real time plot screen for any parameter.
I looked for a long time for a program that would pick up a serial stream and display a reasonable image of a dash gauge in real time and was lucky to find WinLog. And luckier still to find a developer that got excited about helping us create a driver for the ebl that we could use for the GMC Motorhome.
**EBL UPDATE:GOOD NEWS! Dynamic EFI has accepted my offer. It will take some time to get everything legally and materially put together and get the EBL back into production as soon as possible. Keep watching here for updates as they develop.
Another EBL Update: It looks like it will be sometime in January 2026 that I will take control of the EBL. Still waiting on lawyer stuff to happen right now. I have another zoom call with my lawyer later today. Stay tuned for further development. BTW, our test box assembly for the EBL CFI/TPI is coming along nicely and should be an awesome piece of equipment moving forward.
Is this a new product, a device for testing the EBL ECM prior to shipping, or ??
No, sorry. This is our own test equipment for testing ECMs both CFI and TPI boxes before leaving our door. The one that Dynamic EFI had "may" be OK. However, they could not test CFI ECMs with EBL mod, sowe decide to create our own equipment for this purpose so it would be custom for our needs. Saying that, could it become a piece of equipment that could be sold down the road? Maybe. It looks very nice. Sorry for any confusion on this.
Yes, I'm leaving to go to PA on the 20th to hand them a check and load up all the equipment. Unfortunately I do not have any time frame when the EBL will be available since there is a lot to do. We are in the process of building new test equipment for both CFI and TPI. There is a lot of ordering of parts/boards etc before we can get the EBL out the door. Please stop by my site and read the Blog that has everything posted there on this project and the Renegade 2.0 project. I hope this helps.
UPDATE: Just to let everyone know, there has been yet another setback on closing with Dynamic EFI. It all centers around lawyers taking their time to review documents at both ends. A new date has been set for Feb 28th to close the deal. Will that happen, I hope so?
UPDATE: As most people know by now, the Dynamic EFI deal is a done deal now and all the equipment that Bob had is with me. We have been busy at work going through everything, and there is a lot and not finished. There tons of paperwork, drawings, code etc to go through. Since there are no instructions that we have found on how to use anything Bob made/did, we decided to make our own test equipment and document as we go. Here is an ECM test box we have been working on that will test any pin type ECM along with the edge card CFI ECMs with a touch screen as the controller when finished.
Moving along slowly only because I have run into a couple snags with the EBL. The company Bob used to create all the boards he made was Advanced PCB. I had a meeting with the regional manager and they gave me a list by version number of everything they had on file. The EBL version they have and the versions I have found, don't match yet. The latest file I have found is one behind. I haven't gone through everything yet and there still is a lot to do. I also have not found the BOM yet, which is the list of parts used, which is troubling. I did find a rack of programmed PICs which was a GREAT find and already used a couple to repair an EBL and now works.
I would have to say that all of this can be overcome, but it will take a little longer than anticipated at this pace. Another reason things are going a slowly is that the Renegade project has kicked in and I'm dealing with that which takes me away from the EBL and only leaves my engineer to deal with the EBL project. Like I said, it is slow, but we are getting there. Enjoy!

Funny story on the acronym "BOM".... (Bill of Materials)...
I was in a Target with my wife doing some shopping and someone called me from work.... the discussion involved parts lists and I was saying acronym "BOM" out loud walking around the store for about 30 seconds before I realized how that could be interpreted... lol... I started spelling it out "bill of materials"...
Poor Bob... still bummed that he's gone. He was such a pillar on this site.

LOL, if you think his emails were over your head, you should take a look at some of his notes...OMG!! "Bob, what were you thinking"?! It's been tough going through some things, but I'm getting closer to getting to the bottom of the BOM, I think? I have it narrowed to three documents which is 12 pages total from various years and making a comparison between them all. If there is an original, I haven't found it yet, but still looking.
Bob was a very complex guy, I think maybe borderline genius. Lots of hand drawn circuit diagrams from various projects. I bet he didn't even use AI to do any of them, but maybe?
We are diligently trying to get the EBL line back up and running. It takes more time than we anticipated though. We are learning more and more everyday on this project which is good. I hope to have some good news somewhat soon. I have three large projects going on. A completely new website that will incorporate all the EBL stuff, the EBL project itself and the manifold project all at the same time.
