Carlisle Third Gen Nationals 2024 6/21 & 6/22
Carlisle is having this event again after first year in 2022. Is anybody interested in attending with their car? Website is not clear on if you have to attend both days. I would like to attend at least one day with my car. Would great to meet up with some other thirdgeners.

Hi, this is my first post on this fine website. I have been reading about that show every year, and strongly interested in attending. I may or may not take my car that far. But I intend on seeing this show. Have you been there yet?

Congrats on the first post!
I have not been to Carlisle for any event. They started doing a section of show for Thirdgens in 2022 since it was 40th anniversary from first production in 1982 .They did it again last year and now this year. You can register car for the show building to get judge or the general field. I am thinking about going, at least Friday and would register for the field. It is about a 5 hour drive for me. Would be cool to know if anybody from this website is attending and if can even meet up for part of drive to event.

Ill let you know closer to June but I intend now to go with or without my 3rd gen. never been to Carlisle but I've heard about it since I was a teenager I'm fifty eight years old now. Back in the early 80s it was all the rage in Heming motor news.

I went last year. It was definitely a cool aspect to have a thirdgen show within the GM show. Unsure if I can go this year, but if I can't, I will go back next year in 2025 instead

I'm thinking of attending this year. Was talking to one of the guys that puts together the 3rd Gen section at a car show and sounds like a great event.
Not sure that I want to drive my car that far. It's probably about 3 hours each way for me. Been there (Carlisle) before for the Corvette show.

Thank you for the responses. Can't believe more people from this website are not going!
I did register other day to get the 5% discount 😄 Would be a 5-6 hour drive from me. Probably going, not sure if staying both days or maybe full day Friday and leave early afternoon Saturday.

Just an FYI for those who haven’t been to this show before - the real show is only on Saturday. I went in 2022 for both Friday and Saturday. There were way more cars on Saturday. I had a good time but if I were to go again I’d get down there Friday night and just do the Saturday show. IMO - the only reason to go Friday would be to maybe try and score something in the swap meet area.

This show used to be Fri, Sat, Sunday back in the day. The vendor area used to go the whole way to the fence. 3rd gen Firebirds and Trans Ams were separate classes. Gas was under $2.50/gal IIRC....
Anyway, I'll be there as usual in the Firebird section... Pray for nice weather.

one of my pet peeves about the show is the inequity of classes for thirdgens. there are 5 classes for thirdgen Camaros: stock, street, modified, convertible and IROC-Z. for Bird, there are only two classes: Firebird/Formula/Trans Am stock and Firebird/Formula/ Trans Am Modified.

I agree, There is no reason anymore the extra Camaro classes. Many years ago, Carlisle was the location for the Camaro Nationals in conjunction with GM Nationals until they got upset about something and moved it to MD. Camaro Nationals still boast 5 class judging on their site.
Firebird classes were consolidated started in '08 IIRC... About the time I stopped going for a decade.

Thank you for info about Saturday being the main day. Makes sense. With that, I'll drive down Friday, stay all day Saturday and drive back Sunday.
