1991 Camaro RS build

Finally got myself a 1991 Camaro RS with the 305 5 speed. Starting this thread to document the build. Looking into doing the Ls swap and t56. Looking to find a 4th gen Camaro. I know it needs paint. Only one rust spot and it’s in the trunk area on driver side.

Re: 1991 Camaro RS build

Finding a relatively rust free car is a good start for a build.

I found my car in 1999 but I gutted it the day after I got it and started building a race car. There isn't much left from the original car.

Got the engine and transmission out. Working on finding a 4th gen for a parts car. And starting some bodywork and stripping the paint off to repaint

I hope the rest of those seats look as good as the driver's seat bottom when you pulled back the seat cover. Wish the ones in our '92 looked that good!!

Please offer them up for sale so that someone can use them after you have installed your new seats.

Removed more of the interior. Have the car sitting on some wooden cribs

I look at that paint and engine compartment and say meh. Cosmetics looks pretty but doesn't make you go any faster. Adds to the sleeper look.

Started tinting my taillights

Still been fixing all the little rust spots. Got one more left and started tinting my taillights. With the spray tint I had an issue of wrinkles and sanded back down and will try again.

Re: 1991 Camaro RS build

Have the car fully gutted and taken apart. So now it’s onto sanding and painting. Gonna do a full tubular k member and control arms. Some weight jacks. Looking into the pan hard bars and control arm for the rear.

Re: 1991 Camaro RS build

Got some more sanding done and the last of the metal work finished up. Looking sometime next month to get it in primer and starting putting suspension on. Then still need to find a donor 4th gen to use for drivetrain plus little other stuff.

basically. Got some infected spots from rust spots. Gotta do some rust conversion stuff to prevent it coming back. I’m really not a body guy but learning as I’m going. Still got underneath to do and that and the engine bay is going black.
