Better alternative to the AC Delco water pump?

Bought an AC Delco Gold water pump to replace my failing original and the housing cracked when installing the new heater hose adapter. Maybe I was just overtightening but it sure didn't seem like it. I'm guessing this housing is grey iron and not cast iron. Anything better available?

My OEM replacement Oreilly pump does really well with my 383.

I was impressed with the quality of the Carquest Premium heavy duty water pump I installed on my 1992 GMC truck. I got it at Advance Auto Parts.

I got the one above it. The cast iron pump is $128. Geez. I may just go grab an Autozone or Oreilly cast iron pump.

Jeff, I bet that cracked Delco Gold water pump is china made, right? I've noticed that the "Gold" line of AC Delco seems to be chinesium and I try to avoid it. That being said, even some of the genuine GM parts that I've recently purchased say, "made in china" on the box .
