Passenger fenderwell connector removal

How do you remove the connector that is behind the fender liner on the passenger side of the car? This is on a 1989 IROC. I tried to spread the locking tabs but it didn't want to budge. Are those tabs the only thing holding it on?

Should be a metal U-clip on the inside that holds it on. The plastic pieces do not come apart...

Re: Passenger fenderwell connector removal

Although I recall that mine was plastic. Not that it really matters though.

It kinda slides down onto the inside of that pass-through (it's not a "connector") on the interior side, like an E-ring would do, to hold something on a shaft. Slide it off, then the whole pass-through just pops right out through the windshield cowl toward the outside, along with all the wires in it.

The "tabs" have nothing whatsoever to do with it. All they do is retain the clamp that clamps it onto the wires and seals to them. The whole thing comes out in one piece without disturbing that.
