know of any 85-92 camaro's for sale?
Hey everyone, just found the board, and am searching for a clean, 85-92 camaro. I dont know much about them, but i do know id like a coupe, with a 350. Anyone that knows of a nice one, please post or let me know.
thanks!
thanks!
The best thing you can do is be patient and READ!! Learn as much about ANY car you are about to buy!!
Most T-top cars will be a 305. Some rare ones had 350's. At any rate you'll want a TPI. If you have any doubts about a car make sure you settle them BEFORE you pay. I looked at litteraly dozens of cars before finding my Bird.
The camaro was a different story. I would have had a hard time sleeping at night if I hadn't bought it.
BTW I found my camaro at one of the mini-gatherings. These guys are a GREAT source of info!!!

Go for an 88-92 model. 87 and older had v-belts and the old style disc brakes. All that was upgraded in 88. It's easier to find a 350TPI car in those years as well. If you don't already know, 'TPI' is the desirable port fuel injection which comes on some Z28's, most IROCS, and Firebird GTA's. DO NOT get TBI (throttle body injection - looks like a carb) It's sucks and there's not much you can do with it. You can get a nice IROC or 91-92 Z28 for 5000-6000.
Good luck! and take your time to get the right car!

Hey, I'm just down the road from you! I'm in Bastrop! Anyways, I have an 88 305 TBI w/ t-tops. I love it. I don't have any problem with the TBI! I don't understand why so many people bad mouth TBI so bad. I do realize I don't know everything about engines, but a TBI is a good engine. But, if you find a TPI take it. I understand TPI is a 'better' system, but that doesn't mean TBI is bad! Just that TBI is sort-of a mix between a carb and TPI. But, to answer your question, have you tried the Austin Third Gen Message Board? They might not have one, but they might know where to get one. Maybe......just a though???
like the other said, learn and take your time. I started looking last year at about this time -- granted I was looking for a convertible -- and didn't find one until Feb of this year. Picked it up for $3700.
It was a 89 RS
305 TBI (wasn't looking for speed but the drop tops)
54,000 miles (now has 55,200)
Clean Interior
No dents
Looks okay, but has oxidized areas on the paint (saving my money for that).
Bought it from an older couple and saw it on autotrader on the internet.
Good luck, neighbor

I agree. Take your time and get to know the car before you buy one. I stumbled across the 83 I have. It was originaly a 305 with crossfire injection. I bought it from some place off of 2222 for $3100 and it had a 350 with many other nice toys. The guy could of sold the car for at least 5 or 6K. Read the tech articles here as well as just some general posts before you put your money on the table. Check autofinder or the statesman. Good luck.

Look and keep looking before you settle. I have seen and been through alot of 3rd gens. The sweetest deal I have seen here in the area was a MINT condition black on black 90 Iroc,t-tops,305 tpi/5-spd combo, dual cats,G90 car,all original except for Flowmaster catback. It went for $5000 and only had a little over 50,000 miles. It took me a couple days, but by the time I got the money, the car was already gone. Drive around and check the used car lots.I have seen plenty of nice 3rd gens at places like that, especially along Burnet Rd. As a matter of fact, the black Iroc was at a used dealership right off Burnet. And I got my RS off another dealership from Burnet Rd.
