Part it out or sell it whole???

How do folks determine whether it's better to part a car out, or just sell it whole?

I have my '87 formula. It runs/drives, but I haven't driven it enough to say what exactly it needs to be a reliable daily driver. It has a rebuilt 350 (probably already have a buyer for the motor) with the LG4 intake/carb. It also has the t-5 tranny. I drove it home and it didn't act up so I know it could be made reliable pretty easily.

So how should I decide?

Hood is useable (its the car in my sig pic except the photochopped wheels)...

Interior is worn. Carpet is faded, I wouldn't use it for a nice car...seats are also faded but not torn or anything. Center console is a manual one from a 4th gen car.

That still doesn't answer my question... lol.

without seeing the car in person its hard to say.

do you think you can get more from parts or selling it....

do you want to invest the time to tear down the car....

do you want a half dissambled bird sitting around.....

i missed the part why you were selling it?
as far as parting or selling whole. whole would be easiest......cuz unless you have a place to keep it....like a garage or something for a while it will suck to part it out. how much do you want for the whole thing? and tell me more stuff about the rear end? is the gas tank any good? ya know good parts left on it.

Well, if I sold it whole, I'd probably ask about $1700 for it. I know that it's possible to make more than that if I part it out.

I do have a garage, and parts can be sorted/stored there...so it's not a huge issue.

Everything done was done by the PO, I haven't modded the car at all yet...

IF I part it out, the engine (roller 350 with probably less than 5k miles on it) has already been spoken for.

It has a t-5 tranny (unk if its a WC)
It has a BW 9-bolt posi disk rear that has practically new 3:73's in there..
It has a 4th gen console from an M6
It has a 140 speedo (not correct though, needs to be recalibrated)
Black interior is clean, but sun-faded.
A/C compressor was reportedly a remaunf unit - and is not presently connected - unsure if whether it works or not.

The car is black, all panels straight...only body issues in fact are the splitting rear spoiler and some key scratches on the driver door.

t-tops are in good shape...leak when water pressure applied - but not in rain (so far... )

The car is solid overall. I haven't had it up on a lift, so I dont know about anything hidden.

I also bought the crossmember for a T-56 install - so I debate building this car all the time. If I got $1700 for the whole thing I would sell it for sure (that would include the crossmember).

I bought the car as a donor for my '71 camaro, but I think I'd rather put an LT1/T56 in the camaro.

After some thought on the issue, I've decided that I do not want to part it out. It's too complete and I can't see tearing a perfectly good car apart.

Thanks guys...
