Yeah it looks like March 26th is the date.
Looks like the park--BBQ--Cruise to HMP is the format.
Let's make it:
Meet in the park--1 PM
BBQ (the traditional "burning of the dogs")--3 PM
Awards--4:30 PM
Cruise to HMP--5 PM
Sound cool?

Now, couple of things that we need to deceide:
---------------------------------------------------------
For the awards--how are we going to do the judging?
Elect 3 people to do the judging
OR
Everybody that shows up gets to vote?
---------------------------------------------------------
What catagories?
Below are the original ones I posted--and maybe there are too many--which ones should be eliminated and should any be added?
Best Paint
Best Interior
Best/Cleanest Engine compartment
Best Wheels/Tires
Best/Most Improved Car
Best Engineering (ex: engine swap, but not limited to)
Best/Baddest Sounding Car (Exhaust at Idle-- not stereo)
Best/Long Distance Award
Best Overall
Best/Quickest pass at HMP that night
I'm thinking to eliminate:
Best/Most Improved Car--might very hard to judge since not everybody is familar with everybody elses cars past/present.
Best Engineering (ex: engine swap, but not limited to)
Best Wheels/Tires (
-OH CRAP--that's the only one I had a shot at!)
Best/Baddest Sounding Car (Exhaust at Idle-- not stereo)--I don't know--I kinda like this one!
So the catagories would be:
Best Exterior/Paint
Best Interior
Best/Cleanest Engine compartment
Best Overall
Best/Long Distance Award
Best/Quickest pass at HMP that night
What do U guys think?

Quickest ET for sure
BEST 60' (Best launch in other words)
Best exterior
Best Interior
Cleanest Engine bay
Best Overall
Too bad there isn't a skidpad around, or we could go for most G's
I say we do it ballot style just print them out and people can fill in the blanks. All cars could have names tucked under the wiper blade, nice and easy.

I gotta give credit where credit is due. If my car had been in the shape Mikeee's was , I would not have raced, but he did! Mikeee is a man of his word! I know his car is a lot faster than what was shown by his ET's. Hope U can get a good clutch in there by the SPRING FLING THING, cause I want a rematch puddinpops!

OK, I might as well throw down the gauntlet.
The way I see it Texas LTI is the fastest proven car, hes going to beat me every time (close though)
Pasky should be fast but wasnt' due to some problems
Mikes car should be fast, but ditto to the Pasky statement
Barry's car, well ditto again
The guy (im sorrry im terrible with names) with the Blue formula, stoker motor and superram will be fast soon, I think really fast, and should be able to beat me
Zaps car has been pretty fast, and hes redoing his heads
So my best bet is ZAPPER. We should run pretty close, I think you said your best 1/8 time was lile 8.7 or something, mine is 8.6 or so. So get you car ready and LETS DO IT. We are about the two oldest guys anyway so its kind of the geriatric championship
I think the fastes ETs will go
Texas LTI
Me or Pasky
Zap
It all depends on the unknowns of the other cars mentioned above

I have appointed myself the official broker for the Mikey-Texas LT1 race. Mikey goes off at a 20 to 1 underdog.

I'll leave it like it is so I can take home the trophy on that one.
It's not that it's disorganized. I'm with Pasky. I know where everything is, it works, and I'm lazy!

So, I'll run U on street tires or if I can get some drag radials on it, otherwise it's a lost cause.

Hell Yeah!!!
It's billed as a Thirdgen thing, but I sure don't object--don't hink anybody else would--I welcome any performance car (except maybe Mustangs!)LOL. First gen, Second gen, fourth gen, it's all in the family! Personally, I think it reminds us all, of the F-body heritage!
ESPECIALLY IF SOMEBODY IS WILLING TO DRIVE FROM OUT OF TOWN TO HOUSTON FOR THE THING!!!:hail:
However, I think all the appearance and performance awards should be reserved for Thirdgens.
Cool?

In my opinion, any "nice young ladies" are welcome no matter what they drive. Of course Im just an old fart but ladies certainly brighten up the scenery. Now if she is driving an import, no big deal, just park it waaaaaayy over there somewhere

Well, I think that subject has been covered. I have no objection to her driving it to the gathering or attending. She's gota get there somehow! I don't think it should be "displayed" as we do the thirdgens. I would definately encourage more ladies to attend our functions--always dresses up the scenery--besides we need more to attend, if we are ever gonna include a wet t-shirt contest in our festivities!

Now that everything is pretty much in place for the SPRING FLING THING, what are we gonna do about the awards as far as taking up a collection so we can upgrade the quality of awards given. Does everybody want to kick in a couple bucks so we can do this?
If we do not, and they come out of my pocket, they are gona be some very inexpensive ribbons.
If we do--depending on how much is donated-- the choices are:
( I'm just guessing on prices--based on past experiances--have not actually checked with trophy shops yet.)
Engraved Business card size plaques with an adhesive strip--probably a couple bucks each.
Engraved plaques (appox. 5X7" or larger) with a wood backing usually about 1/2" thick--probably about 7.00 to 10.00 each.
Engraved trophies-- probably 10.00 on up depending on size and how fancy U get.
Based on past similar situations most people prefer plaques rather trophies for several reasons. Cheaper--easier to keep up with--tropies have a tendency to not be as durable with time. Trophies usually end up on the shelf and never seen again by anybody other than yourselves...ETC
My initial thoughts are the business card size plaques. They are inexpensive, yet still appealing--easy to keep up with-- These are also very easy to display on/in yur car like on the dash board or under the hood like U do MFG. decals.
I am willing to do whatever U guys want---we just need to figure out what we want to do, and get the funds together in plenty of time to go to the trophy shop to GIT-R-DONE where it's not a last minute scramble.
I realize that many of U are probably thinking "I don't have a shot at any of the awards--why should I contribute?" Well, it's just part of being in an organization/club like we have here! If everybody kicks in 2.00 or 3.00 dollars, compared to what we all spend on our cars, it's no big deal!
Funds could be either mailed to me or we could do a "paypal" deal. I am already set up at paypal with 2 different accounts. A list of all contributions would be published so all can see that all the funds went to to the awards.
Let me know!
Craig

Well put me down for $10 for the trophies, or plaques. I always liked trophies better, but its not a big deal. Trophies you can put on a shelf and read them. I can mail a check, give me the address to mail it to.
Oh yeah and put me down fo $20 for the wet T shirt contest (as long as I get to be a judge).
Believe it or not, my girlfriend might be a contender. She's kind of old though at 30.

I'm thinking if we all chipped in like $5 we could probably do some small plaques, 5 x 7 would be a good size. Just have something like;
If we could find a logo of a Camaro and Firebird nose-to-nose, that would be awesome, have that up top. Then in fairly large letters put:
Houston Thirdgen Club would like to recognize you for:
Whatever category in larger letters
then at the bottom something like At the 2005 Spring Fling Thing
I can work something up in photoshop later once we get some ideas.

put me down for some cash, I can spare a couple o' bucks here and there no prob!
While we're talkin' about cash ya'll be sure to go donate something to those folks overseas who got smacked by that tsunami! if you've got old clothes, or whatever those people can literally use the shirt of yer back right now! It'd be really cool if maybe we could do some sort of big meet - signs and the like (I got the hookup maybe on that) and get people to stop and check out the cars and donate the proceeds to those peeps. What you guys think about that idea? maybe we could even do it at the spring meet if we had it somewhere public enough!
aaand, while I'm runnin' off at tha' mouth, how's this logo? In looking at it, it might need to be cleaned up some for etching and such. maybe it could just be used as a template, or some such.. anyway here ya' go

I got a nice logo at the house, i'll post a picture of it, its just the pontiac phoenix, but if someone can add camaro or the camaro emblem, it would look pretty sweet, that one you posted looks nice as well.

I'm up for it. Do I need to bring any food or drinks? And may I bring some friends. By the way I'm Kim I've been on the ATGO board for a few weeks now. I'm in the process of fixing my camaro. My car is not in top condition and I doubt it will be when I come I hope that is ok. I doesn't look like crap, it just needs a new pain job and some more work done.

Kim, glad you came on over. We'd love for you to come, the more cars the better. Don't be too concerned about food right now, we'll work that out as it gets closer to time. And as far as your car, its alright, we all understand that almost all of us have project cars, if you can bring it, bring it and don't worry about it. Besides, you just might get some ideas from someone else after seeing others cars and everyone else seeing yours.

You have a good point. Are we going to have this little swap meet thing too? I have a bunch of parts as well as a full set of seats I need to get rid of. I also have a full set of grey interior trim I need to trade for red.

Do the smart thing and instead of hauling the stuff down here, take some pics of whatever U have to get rid of and bring them. Since most will (including me) be going to the strip and making a few passes, I don't want to be hauling around a bunch of stuff at the track. My car is slow enough as it is--I don't need the extra weight.
