went to HRP last night

took my 87 Z last night to the HRP 1/4 track..car is stock 305 TPI````````new times w/headers
R/T 1.01```````.92
60" 2.21``````2.19
330 6.40``````6.23
1/8 9.84``````9.57
MPH 71.81````73.93
1000 12.85````12.48
1/4 15.45`````14.97
MPH 86.20`````90.50

93 Z stock lt1 1/8 mile times at HMP
R/T 1.33
60" 2.33
330 6.33
1/8 9.67
MPH 72.76

i think i had too much weight on the 87 z full tank, subs, tool box.....and after a beer or 2 new poly trans mount worrked great. i wanna know if there's room for improvement ...

6-18-05 went to track with rest of H-town TGO members and pulled off some improved times ...Im glad everybody helped me out when i ran into some problems

I think "the beer or 2 " caused your reaction times to be poor. The extra weight probably helped the car hook better, but slowed it because you had to drag it down the track. Keep workin' on it!

Something isnt right with your 93, that car should be in the high 8's. if you cut a 2.0 60 with your 305, it would probably take your LT1 in the 1/8.

Were you manual shifting or letting the car shift itself?

With less weight and a few "free mods" you should pick up about 2-3 tenths.

yeah i let it shift itself...and it was a spur of da moment when we went to the track...i didnt even think about how much gas i had but i got gas for 1.98 so i filled up and they were about to close da track already so i was kinda in a rush..i will be back later prepared and hopefully see some improvement.. tach is way off bout 2,000 rpm so i dont want to shift it manually and mess up something

What a steal!

Not sure about the bolts are the old ones go through a flange the same thickness as the headers. U can get some header at almost anywhere Oreolly's--Competition sales--Summitt--Jegs--go to summitt and search for header bolts and they may show the length x diameter--etc!

Thats odd my 93 Trans Am when it was stock ran 9.1@78 in the 1/8, that was on a 2.25 sixty foot. At HMP I ran a 8.5@80 on a 1.86, still basically stock, just now with 17s, a converter, cat back and a cold air.

well i guess it might also have been cause it was my first time at the track i also use 87 octane ...and i really think that broken tranny mount really killed everything ...also budweiser too

As long as U do not "overpower" the heads! The heads can only flow so much air. Even if U have them "done"--if U try to flow through them than they can take, U will actually LOSE HP!. It causes turbulance when that happens and U actually flow less if U force too much in them. The cam has to be somewhat matched to the heads--do a search or post questions on the TPI board about which cam for your 305 with the mods u have or plan on in the near future.

Have U put the "airfoil" on the front of the throttle body yet?

Remove screens from the MAF yet?

airfoil not yet ...but i have removed the MAF screens ....tb bypass, i'll try the airfoil some time later and maybe some roller rockers...i do plan on getting a different motor to replace it once this 305 goes ....but this motor takes some abuse and doesnt give up ...
