The Oct monthly will be second Sat of the month--10/08/05--4 pm--location to be determined, but will be on the SE side of town.

At the moment the car show at 518 + 146 ( I think that's the location--AlDixie, correct me if I'm wrong) kinda looks good for the "after the meet" cruise and hang out part, according to the members that live on that side of town. Supposed to be a big car show every Sat night with good car count.

We are not locked into that, so anybody with suggestions for either the monthly meet location or something to go do afterwards, PLEASE speak up!

We do not have a good location for the meet itself yet. The ideal location would be relatively easy access--relaxed atmosphere-- plenty of parking--drinks/beer at NOT ripoff prices--relatively inexpensive good food--smoking allowed for those of us who still have not kicked the habit. (Most places that serve food that have a bar allows smoking)

AS ALWAYS, THE DATE IS NOT ETCHED IN STONE!!! IF THERE IS AN EVENT ( such as a big car show--a racing event--Whatever) THAT WE WANT TO TIE THE MONTHLY IN WITH, THAT WE MAY NOT BE AWARE OF ---PLEASE, PLEASE. PLEASE, SPEAK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will go check out the "events" calendar on "Cruzin Times" and see if there is anything special going on and report back if there is.

my dad and I are going to the Airshow, so I'm not going to have my car with me. We might stop by the meet after the show if it is that weekend and grab some dinner, but I'm not coming back to Angleton to grab my car for the meet and not going to drive mine to the airshow due to no a/c.

Also, Ron Carter Chevy in Alvin has FREE tickets to the Airshow, cheapest ones are $15 so not a bad deal. You can get reserved seating for $40.

There is a Cajun restaraunt just outside the gates to Ellington Field, what is it Dixie Farm Road and Hwy 3? Down Home style, popular with the NASA fly boys and such.

It was a good hang out, was called Pete's. Went under beginning of the year and has now been reopened and is called Roadhouse. When I first came over went there every saturday for some good Cajun music, dancing and mud bugs.

The inside was decorated in license plates from around the world.

If not Hooters is good on I-45 then a quick cruise down 45 to 518 and a slow cruise through League city (police are hot there) down to Kemah for the saturday night cruise at Chick Fillet.

Let me be the first to nix the Hwy 3 place. It is a good place, but traffic is horrible around the air show. I'll pipe down and let you guys figure it out.

I would definitely suggest somewhere NOT around Ellington Field on Airshow day. Traffic is a nightmare.

I have business that will take me down in that area this week. I will look around--in between the suggestions and what I find, I'm sure we can come up with a good location!

Not been pulled yet but do get the evil eye going through Webster a lot.

Hooters on Nasa 1 would also be a good place.

Ok here we go!

Any other suggestions besies HOOTER'S?

I have to be down there in that area and I figure I will drive around a little and check out restaurants as well as the Sat night show at 518 + 146.

Does anybody know if that area got flooded or damage from Rita?

Any other suggestions for after the monthly meet besides the Sat night show listed above?

No flooding, no damage in the area. Will be on the left JUST after the RR tracks coming from I-45.

Yeah there was no damage at all in the area other then a few trees and a couple of power spikes.

Went over to check on my car in storage over in pasadena and even the cover was still on it.

Another place I like is next to boston market on Bay Area Blvd. Its one of those micro brewery's. Food can be pricey but the beer is good.

OH MY GO_ ........HAVE A THIRDGEN MEET IN A BREWERY!

U MUST BE KIDDING!

I'LL CHECK IT OU WHEN I'M OVER THERE THIS WEEKEND
Probably drop by the car show while I'm out there. I'm a sucker for those and if I know I'm that close to one and don't stop, I'll go crazy!

Not to get ahead of ourselves here, but next month (NOV) since we will be swinging around to the NE side of town, which we have a significant number of members, and since that is real close to HMP's 1/8 mile drag strip, I'm thinking it might be cool to go there after the monthly meet, instead of a car show? The weather is starting to cool off--WHICH MEANS IT'S DRAG RACING WEATHER!!!-- It could be a good warm-up for the BIG meet we are still trying to put together in late Nov/Dec.

Sound Cool?

After finishing the business I had to take care of over in the SE part of town, we spent about an hour and half, crusing around on 45 from 610 all the way out to 518/Clear Lake area, looking for suitable places for the Oct monthly meet.

There is about a gazillion places to eat in that area (especially out in the Clear Lake area) and almost any of them would be suitable for the monthly. Hooters, bennigans, Chili's, Texas Roadhouse, Cajun Roadhouse, Crawdaddy's, Pizza Places (always hard to beat pizza and beer), and even with all those to choose from, we had already planned where to stop and eat, before we went out to check out the car show at Marina Bay Dr. (2094) and 146.

My conclusion and my personal recommendation for the location for the Oct monthly meet, is a little hole in the wall--been there forever--ice house that is overflowing with personality, where half the chairs have small rips in the seat, and U have to put sugar packets under the table legs to keep them from wobbling, called "South Shore Beer Garden Restaurant" (owned by the same people that own "Joe Lee's")-- It's definately a locals favorite-- always a steady stream of people of all types, that live in or by the marinas.--indoor (A/C)/outdoor seating-- not an overabundance of parking, but more parking in the rear, and more than enough to accomidate the number that normally show up at our monthlys-- bottle beer/2.25--smoking allowed--EXCELLENT FOOD AT CHEAP PRICES (if U are not drinking beer, U will probably get out of there for 7/8 dollars).--jukebox--Tv over in the corner usually with an episode of "Cops" running--1 pool table.

We have been going to this place for years and it is definately on my top 5 list of best burgers/food in the Hou area. Some of U have been exposed to my top 5 burger list/places, and know that it has to be good to make the top 5 list!!!

Also, It is only about a mile from the car show we are gonna go to after the meet.

So, with that being said, since we always put this to a vote, and since Hooter's on 45S, was the only other place suggested, I will put these 2 places up on the poll to vote on. Since we are running behind, in getting all this figured out because of recent events, we will only have a few days to do the vote. We need to deceide this by Tue or Wed, so we can post the results and locations of both the meet location and the car show so everybody will have enough time to get plans made.

C U next Sat afternoon!

I know that for many of U this months meet being in the SE (Clear Lake area), that it is a far drive for U and with the price of gas these days being what it is, U will choose not to attend this month, but that is why we move the monthlys around every month so the thirdgenners that DO live in the area can and hopefully will attend.

So all U people on the SE side of town, this is your month. We have a number of newbies that have been on the board a short time, that we have never had a chance to meet, or check out your car.

Of course we always have the hard core group that go to all the meets regardless of where it is.

Everybody that can make it no matter where U live--try and make it, and remember we have to celebrate the fact that both Katrina and Rita passed us by!!!
