So who is REALLY here?

There has been a DRASTIC decrease in activity on this board over the last couple of years. With the tiny number of people who actually post, I'm just wondering who is still lurking around.

If something doesn't happen to raise some interest, I get the feeling that soon no one will be here.

Even our one remaining moderator has only logged on once in the last 8 months!

So if you are reading this, let me know.

P.S.
I know some have recently posted to the "Houston Area roll call" thread but that is such an old thread, I want to know who is here now.

Re: So who is REALLY here?

I'm here and planing to stay here while i have my bird, and i am not planing on selling her unless a truck runs over, i only now got to know this particular section and it will be nice if we could organize few meets and go down to Texas World Speedway or something like that. Well... i have to fix her up first but that's another story.

Im still here too, just waiting for the next meet, if there ever is one. After everyone was so pissed off after the last meet at Sealy, then with Craig dying, kind of put a damper in everyones enthusiasm I guess. I will definitely show up if there is another meet.

I check in every now and then. I'm real busy now with work and my kids. I don't have much time to play around with the car. (However, I do drive it
every chance I get.)

I still lurk... at times.

I have been away for about a year, now I am back. I have been waiting for another meet or something, I really miss the good ole times. It will be different without Craig though. I miss him.

Re: So who is REALLY here?

I'm still here. I look almost everyday to see if anything new is posted up. Usually things from your area of texas, but sometimes over here to. I posted upa free car show not too long ago, didn't get any response. I'd like to get as many cars out to Corpus one day. I've never been there but a lot of the 3rd gen guys(10-15 cars) want to cruise out there.

Re: So who is REALLY here?

I never left. I just finished putting together 2 thirdgen's for a couple guys and I'm finishing another '89 for another buddy of mine. Also tuned a '91 a week or two ago.

Mine's running and able to be driven, but not ready for the track yet. I'm in the process of buying a dependable daily driver right now, so I won't have any spare $$ to throw at my Camaro. But, it's drives good enough to make a meet.

I am going to try to organize a meet / BB-Q in December at Bear Creek park out in Katy. We had the best turnout there. I will try to get ahold of Fatal88 and Darrel (406Z) and few other guys to see if they will make it. Another friend of mine Neil is building a pretty badass ride out of his old IROC. It should be ready by then and he said he'd come down with it.

I'll post the thread tonight or tomorrow.

Re: So who is REALLY here?

Good to hear from you Mike. Following response includes you and Eric {Esc}. Having home network probs right now, bear with me.....

Eric, a good and timely post.
I'm still here, this is my Home Page.
I travel a lot, but TGO comes up first when I hit the web. Try to keep my current location on the left under my name....Think it
says London right now? will update.
Still have the red 89 Formula, drastic changes planned for that (1320 specific).
Bought a black 89 Formula from a board member (ZAP89), staying street specific. Wife saw it, said "buy it". Way cool.(whatta Girl)

We are all still dealing in our own ways with the passing-on of Craig Landry (ZAP RACING - moderator). Fair enough, 'tis the way......it should be.

I feel we NEED to keep the Spring Fling / Fall Brawl events going on.
Mike (1Bad91Z) has generously offered to host up a Fall Brawl / Memorial event for Craig.

Eric, you seem up to snuff to assist that along. Would you follow up on that?

I'm (and the Mrs) are good at organizing promoting/events, but my schedule
at the moment it is up for question. Waiting for my new ship to be built and accepted. Once done, there is a good chance for a port call in Galveston, with "open house" tours. If/when that happens (early October?), I'll invite you all down. Cruise to Galveston with free tour of a 100 meter Seismic Research Vessel. Considered one of the World's Largest Moving Objects.
See us here: www.cggveritas.com

Eric, get in touch with Mike for a Fall event, even if I can't make it Angie will (she and Sue were getting pretty close).
I will stand up and coordinate a Spring Fling, location Texas City Dike, With a run to Baytown (HRP). Was done once before, and
went well I hear, even though I was offshore.

These things can be done, just takes time and initiative.

Regards,

Dave Weeks

Re: So who is REALLY here?

First, I'm VERY surprised and happy to see the response this thread has received. I was beginning to think no one was paying any attention.

Second, A fall GTG is a MUST. Not only in Craig's honor (although he certainly deserves it), but for ourselves as well. If we DON'T have regular GTG's there is no future for this thing.

Lets see...
Losing Craig is a terrible thing, just thinking about raises so much emotion that I don't know how to express it. One thing that I do know is that it would make him happy to see us continue in his absence.

I like the idea of a cruise to Galveston (and to Corpus for that matter).

I've had to travel to Corpus for work on many occasions and there are a LOT of third gens there!

I'll be happy to help with the fall event in any way I can.

I would also like to see a monthly (even a weekly) event come back. The more often we get together the better.

OK it is late and I'm tired...but I'm happy to see that so many of us are still out there. I think that all that is needed is a catalyst and this could really come back together in a big way.

Re: So who is REALLY here?

Wow, a few names i haven't seen. I am here, i stop by allot to see what the word is. Thing is for me i have been trying to get this junk LT1 running and i did, then the motor locked up....so now i have sworn off LT1s. I no am focusing on my 89 RS again, i am getting her back up and running and going to blast down a fresh coat of primer. She will be going back to a roller cam again and it will be 350 powered again till the 408 is ready. I just started up a meet back at 1960 and Aldine Westfield, it is allot of F cars, no third gens yet, ill be there with my machine soon, it is a good GTG but there are a bit of street racing here and there which does not work for all.

Later,

Zane

Re: So who is REALLY here?

It is very good to see the replys this thread has gotten in such short time. It's only going to get bigger also. Here in SA, we've had 3 people join just this week. I'm surprised you houston guys don't have something going on(or do you)? I know the austin group does and they had a pretty good showing last we met up with them. I've only met 1 person from on here and that was ESC(thank you again man for transporting and holding the stuff I purchased from there, can't thank you enough). I recently started taking it apart, had water/pudding looking sludge/oil/and more sludge come out from the oil pan. I'm hoping it was just a blown head gasket.
I'd love to take this to corpus but it would be a long drive for many. A more central area like Austin or DFW area would be nice to have a South Central Gathering.

-Jim

Technically a Newbie here. I don't have a third gen but am running a third gen powerplant in my SS. Denn Shah should recognize this SS from the other board. I'm here in San Antonio looking for a cool crew to roll with.

I still visit But this is a busy time of year for a motorcycle tech so I have not posted in a while. I have added a 3rd Thirdgen to my collection. Another 87 Iroc 5.0 auto w/T tops. It is maroon with tan interior. It has terribly ugly aftermarket wheels so I think I will go with stockers as soon as I get a chance. I'll post pics soon as I can. I still daily drive my yellow 87 90-100 miles a day. I could probably buy a BMW for what I spend on gas and repair parts every month, but what fun would that be

Re: So who is REALLY here?

I am here, but in Oklahoma though. I don't see many other people from the Oklahoma area in here. I do check every once in a while though! Just bought my 89 Iroc. Haven't really dove into it yet, as work, everyday things, and lack of funds are holding up the process. Mostly the funds!!!

I'm here But up in the DFW area.

I know alot of y'all are down in South Texas, but we have Spots open in the Corral @ the Texas State Fair on Oct 20th. I know it is a long drive for some of you but we would really like to meet some new people and show off some nice 3rd gens. It could also be a good cruise idea.

Heres the link here on TGO:

Heres the link on NTTGA:

Re: So who is REALLY here?

Hi Eric,

I'm still here, haven't done much to the vert since I put the TPI in. Its taken a back burner for a while, lost interest in it for a while since I came back from my dads funeral.

Working on two other cars I have as well, including a 64 MG Midget which I'm building in memory of my dad as it was his first sports car.

Went to take the vert out last weekend and the battery was dead. Was a good local show and had a couple of very nice 3rd Gens there. No owners about , or I would of invited them along to the fall meet.

I like MG's. My second car (after the Camaro) was an MGB. It's amazing how much fun you can in high school with a $700.00 convertible.

Re: So who is REALLY here?

I might as well post up also. I'm still lurking a little bit. My 86 is still on the road. Replaced starter last week, but I've been working on a different project for the last 10 months. I picked up a Super Beetle pretty cheap, so I decided to refurbish it. Been on a few air cooled boards lately, but my heart is still in Chevy, and I check in here from time to time.

Re: So who is REALLY here?

By the miracle of the Internet, I still pop in & out,
since the formula & I are up here in dreary Grand Rapids,
MI. But the good news is: (1) the work is a temporary
gig, & (2) I've gotten more done on the 'bird in the last
3 mo's, than all year before that. (But still a long way
to go.)

I hope the Fall gig is a huge success (don't let wheel spin
light the charcoal -- he's one gene removed from the
original Darwin Award recipient), and sparks renewed
participation. Can't wait to get back home, hopefully
with more pieces together in the formula, than came
up here in the U-Haul.

Re: So who is REALLY here?

I still lurk every now and then. Haven't had a 3rd gen going on 4 years now but make my rounds on the internet, lol. I moved to Austin 2 yrs ago also.

Here's my current ride. It's a 2003 Mach 1 with a roots blower and 6 speed. Makes 440/405 to the tires. Just a little more than my old T/A

Re: So who is REALLY here?

If you guys need help setting up one of those free boards, i can help you all out.

Actually, i doesn't take much to set it up, the effort is customizing it.

The San Antonio Club started with me and two guys meeting up at a park

Re: So who is REALLY here?

I am here.. New to the forum, but not to f-bd's... I have owned every Generation of Camaro except for 1stGen...

I am in the DFW area, actually North of Dallas, but work down there.Currently enjoying my built LS6, 4th Gen.. However, i joined over here to find that perfect IROC to bring back to life.. It's a great sight, wealth of knowledge, can't wait to find that perfect car, so i can fit in over here...

on the sight... see some of you around...
