New to the board....Houston
Hello all,
Name's Keith. I live in Houston and am looking to buy my first F-body. I've always loved the 3rd gens and now that I'm out of school I can finally get one!
I was going to pick up a 89 Camaro RS with a 305 and 5 speed manual for $1000 tonight. I was so excited, it was kind of a beater but it was exactly what I was looking for. Then the lady sent me a text message saying that someone that looked at it before had called and offered her $1300, sorry. Even though she had already accepted my offer and I was on my way to pick it up. So that's my sad story. Hopefully it will end with me on a road trip across the west texas desert in my Camaro or Firebird.

Sucks about that lady backing out on her word.....maybe that one wasnt really meant for you bro. I searched and seen a few camaros here in Houston and even went as far as driving to S.A & ATX to look at a few. But im glad i waited because I found my baby near the Dallas area and she was worth every cent. Good luck on your search.....lemme know me know (PM) anything you find.

No, but my girlfriend won't be using hers for at least 8 months so I'm sure she won't notice one missing.

What do you guys think of this car?
http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/1065001293.html
The interior is pretty rough and its an auto (I wanted a manual) but it is a Trans Am and for the price...??
The guy said throw him an offer. Maybe I could get it for 300 or so...

Re: New to the board....Houston
I finally got a car!!! 1989 RS 305 TBI auto. Thanks Brad!!

I picked it up today and drove it from Pinehurst 60 miles down to Clear Lake in the rain. Luckily the driver's side wiper was doing its job ok so I didn't have to stop for a new set.
I got home and I couldn't wait to get crackin on it so I went to autozone and picked up a set of RainX wipers and new lift struts for the hood and hatch. Now they work great.
I'm so excited to finally have a 3rd gen, I've waited a long time for it.

Oh yeah, and I got these nice wheels and tires to go with it!

I think I'll go put them on now.

Re: New to the board....Houston (finally got a car!)
I got the 17's on and snapped some pictures and took a walk around video. I knew the tires on the 15" wheel were junk but I didn't realize how old they were. One of the rear tires was made in 1990! I can't believe I drove 60 miles on a 19 year old tire!
The others weren't much better.
The interior is pretty decent, the dash pad looks like new and the 94 Camaro seats match really well, new carpet too.

Sorry the video is so dark but the sound is ok. Oh, and that noise that sounds like a midget with a jackhammer under my hood...that's the air pump. The line is gone so its just pumping into the atmosphere.

How much you end up paying? Those wheels are ugly as all hell though. Straight looking car.

$1200 Yeah the wheels are a little too flashy for me; I like function over form personally. If nothing else they do give me good tire options and the tires on them are still good. The main reason I put them on is because the other tires were scrap. I'll probably just clean up the stock ones or maybe look for some nicer 17 or 18 inch wheels.

Get some 17" ZR1s, 9.5 wide front and 11 wide rear, 275 wide front rubber and 325 wide rear. Looks bad ***.

Are you talking about Corvette ZR1 rims or an aftermarket rim?

Re: New to the board....Houston (finally got a car!)
The aftermarket will be able to sell you the correct offset without needing and adapter set.
Re: New to the board....Houston (finally got a car!)
Congrats on the car mannn! But ya get rid of those rims. Makes em look like one of them cars rolling down Airline Dr. The stock ones look better. Clean body keep us updated..... Senior Member
