Re: Houston Organization

You know if you guys are still into it they is a meet that happens at the Sams at 1960 and i10... My camaro is down for clean up and mods like most of you guys. I've been a member of this site for sometime yet still haven't made it to any show... I had a bad paint job for awhile.. meaning it consisted of Primer for about 7 yrs... now I have it painted and kind of wanna show it off a little... I think we should try to do something for the 4th of July.... what do you think???

After the "utter joy" that esc went through going to NASA , I say a meet up at Otto's on Saturday sounds like just the ticket. The freeway flows good enough that the 1LE people can be comfortable. And I can re-fill the Fountains with my air conditioner if they need some extra water.

I may try to go, but my fuel pump is on it's way out and the new one won't arrive until Tuesday. I need to rig a guage or light or something so I'll know if my pressure starts to drop.

Best time depends on the time of the year. In the winter you need to get there by 5:00 to get a decent spot. In the summer about 6:00.

I'm still thinking about going, but if no one else is going for sure than I probably won't. My fuel pump is going out and I'd hate to get stuck somewhere.

Re: Houston Organization

Not a bad meet. I got there 7PM'ish? Parking spots were mostly filled up, but I snagged a nice spot about 4 cars down from the front door. Lots of compliments from Mustang and Ford guys. Another guy with a black Z06 said I had his high school dream car.

A handful of 4th gens were there, but they were mostly out on the side of the restaurant. A few nice 1st gens as well. Guy in a black Chevelle SS LS6 parked beside me. Niiiiice.

I saw an '89 Turbo Trans Am there. Only the second one I've ever seen in person.
As far as Otto's goes. Nice place for a show. Real close to the highway. Even at 7PM, there was a lot of shade available which I appreciate. The restaurant was busy. But I managed to go in and buy an ice cold bottle of root beer from their ice chest.

Police were around. But the only person I saw them turn the lights and sirens on to chase was a minivan down the road.

Re: Houston Organization

I know the guy with the TTA. It is a nice car. He is also the president of Trans Am Club or Houston (TACH). He has a coule of other nice Third Gen Birds, a Formula and a GTA.

I like Otto's, formost of the reasons you mentioned. As far as the police go, as long as you don't cause trouble, they won't give you any.

Re: Houston Organization

i've still got a mountain of things to check off my list but I'm making headway.. As for right now though my cam is down because I haven't finished the intake and carb swap. Iknow its like four more bolts and refilling the radiator but its hot out there. I still got my a/c to get up and working again.. I think the fan control switch on the a/c controls is bad. Anyone got a spare setup???

We need (IMO) to get a local thing going with regular meets.

Is anyone interested in a web site? e-mail list? forum? I can host any of those.

Maybe just an agreed upon place to meet?

Who is interested in what?

I like the idea of a Houston group. although I'm on the northwest side of Houston, so a central location would be great for me. A website, email and forums sound great! Let me know whats up and how I can help.

Completely agree, but I have not the faintest clue as to where we could meet. I unfortunately only know whats around me here at 249. How bad was the Bear Creek thing for most of yall?

Eric, a web-site/forum would be awesome, but at this point I really dont see its utilization being worth the effort of putting it together and hosting it. Totally your call though, of course, and I would help in whatever way I can. I do a little graphic (photoshop) work as well if you need me for that.

Re: Houston Organization

I agree that, at this point, there is not enough interest to warrant a seperate forum.
Getting a basic forum up and running is easy. Same for e-mail list. I'm already doing both.

The problem is who would use it?

Personally, I would like to see people join the [HFB] (Houston-f-Body.org) e-mail list. I'm already hosting that and it works well. The nice thing about an e-mail list is that you don't have to go searching for stuff, it comes to you.

As for a regular place to meet...

[HFB] has been trying to revive the Thursday night dinner meet for about year now, with out much success. They tend to meet near 8 and Westheimer.

Personally, I think someplace inside the loop would be a good compromise. Maybe the Princes, on 59 near Buffalo?

Re: Houston Organization

Bear Creek was good for me, it was bout 45min drive. I think the forum could be use for reviews of local shops and somewhere we can ask for help such as man power or tools in our area.

I'd go but your gunna have to give me about 6 months to get a new ride and get her going and decent... I'll be down for awhile..

Hey Eric I don't think I'm gunna need that shell after all. My old motor was way too far gone to salvage. I gave her up because there wasn't enough left to start over... Just decided to get one with a better start than nothing... Sorry but I appreciate the offer..

regular meets are a must, location is everything though. weekly? bi-monthly? monthly? rotate locations?

a forum would be nice, but as said there is NOT enough interest to make it worth while. the HFB email list... im on it, and to be honest it sucks, tons of crap email from a bunch of guys who all know each other so it's like a personal chat room. a third gen email list would be much better IMO. also, we could use the texasperformanceevents.com forum, they organize ALOT of cruises, meets, and have shop reviews all on the forum. its mainly houston guys too!

alos, im willing to drive for meets if they are worthwhile

Re: Houston Organization

The problem with HFB is it needs some new blood.
Most of the people on it have been there for 10 years, but there aren't that many. 10 new active members would at least double the list traffic.

If people want it, I can add a third gen only email list to HFB. I already have the domain and server so it would only take me 10 minutes to set it up.

As far as a forum, I think we should use this one or have our own.

If people want it, I can add a third gen only email list to HFB. I already have the domain and server so it would only take me 10 minutes to set it up.

As far as a forum, I think we should use this one or have our own.
been reading the new/old list you "old guys" are talking about on hfb so once you guys figure that out a new list may/may-not need to be made

Re: Houston Organization

ok so whom do i need to pm my address to? Im not a member to either site but do know the guy from TPE (Matt). He posts on Lsx and meets with us very often. But a third gen only email list is more ideal imo.

sounds like there may only be a hand full of us so maybe an email with all interested parties copied to discuss how we can start this up without any conflicts or arguements could be a good idea?

Re: Houston Organization

It's starting to look like there WILL be at least one new email list on the houston-f-body.org domain.

We could make generation specific lists, but I don't think that there will be enough of us yet to warrant that. Even if it is a non-generation specific list, it will be a bunch of us ftom TGO who are founding it. So it will be third-gen heavy. If there is enough traffic, we could always add generation specific lists at a later date.

A name needs to be decided upon. F-Body, as in [F-Body]@houston-f-body.org, will not be available.

Here are a few ideas:
[FBody]
[Hou-F-Body]
[Drivers] (as opposed to people who don't drive an F-Body)
[Owners] (like above)
[Tech]
[Meets]

Ok, I'm stretching now, but you get the idea. Anyone have any suggestions?

I suppose I'm leaning toward [FBody].

Re: Houston Organization
