Lowering spring help

Guys i have 2" drop Inrtax part#-INX251004 springs all around. KYB adjustable shocks and 16" 4th gen wheels. The rear springs DID drop the car nicely but the front springs appear taller then the factory spring. Car looks like it is about to launch into space. My T/A specs shows car to be 2875 lbs. from the factory. I have however removed ALL pollution system under the hood. Headers, alum. heads, alum. intake, alum. Super T-10, a fiberglass hood and a few other weight reduction pieces. When i got the car weighed it was right under 2200 lbs. I can understand how the weight loss may contribute to the taller look BUT, 2" freaking drop should have at least taken it under factory stance or equal to, NOT raising it.

So my dilemma. How do i determine what springs will lower this bird and or should i try and cut these crappy Intrax springs?

P.S. i just remembered i also have a IROC sway bar that if i remember correctly is like 1 3/4" thick 'but hollow'. Is it possible the sway bar is causing some of the lift?

Re: Lowering spring help

Your TA was more like 3400lb from the factory. No way it was 2800lbs, unless it was a early 4-cyl. car.

And by removing weight, which I REALLY question you hitting 2200lbs, unless it is a STRIPPED race car, less weight on the springs will allow them to stand taller, because there is less weight compressing them.

I just double checked and your more right.

3170 lbs. from factory.

P.S. this is starting to make more sense. I would probably guess i haven't lost more then 200lbs. Am starting to think i used a 3200lbs. factory starting point and may have come down to 2800lbs. I for sure will try and find the weigh receipt just to make sure i'm not still confused.

Re: Lowering spring help

Here is one guys quest just to try to reach 2800lbs....Or cars are pigs, but not as bad as 4th gens!

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/fabr...ght-quest.html

But there is still the issue of weight reduction raising a car, because of less weight compressing a spring. Which is why I love my weight jacks....All I hafta do is turn a few wrenches & my car gets lower, even after reducing weight & causing the car to ride higher.

Re: Lowering spring help

It sounds like you did not seat the front springs properly. If you look at the lower arm that the spring sits in, you will notice that there is a little divit with a hole for water to drain out. The end of your coil spring MUST sit in this divit to achieve proper drop. I have the same exact springs and my car is SLAMMED!

Re: Lowering spring help

Maybe your front factory springs were just sagged out...but 2 inch drops rasing the car at all just doesnt seem right, i agree that maybe the springs are not seated properly...

Re: Lowering spring help

Well it appears the spring are in there properly 'it was kinda dark and i was feeling my way around'. I'll look at it closer tomorrow but after thinking about it a little while i sorta remember setting the springs in the tabbed spot 'turned the right way'. I also remembered that i had installed new KYB adjustable strut mounts and the passenger side mount is all the way off to the outside while the other is set in the middle of the adjustment travel. My steering wheel is slightly off and it pulls a little to the right.

Is it possible the alignment is that out of whack to make it so sit high?

Anyone know a 'good' alignment shop in SW Houston?
