New guy from Dallas
What's goin' on y'all? Got my first third gen a couple weeks ago, 84 (with a different year front end) Z28 with a carbed 305 with a bad tranny (came with a good one on the side along with a bunch of random parts). She needs some work, but I think it'll be worth it. Just got'er runnin' today. (as far as the motor goes) Carb needed tuning and it needed to be timed. From what I can tell it has a Holley Street avenger, guy I bought it from said it's a 670cfm. It has a Holley Street Dominator intake, generic chrome alternator, has a new water pump oh and the guy said the alternator is new too. Stock exhaust manifolds
Well when I got it runnin I found out it needs pretty much every gasket in the motor, a radiator, and the rings are bad.
But other than the smoke, it ran good and sounded pretty mean (definately not a stock muffler lol)
And she desperately needs a paint job. But the interior is decent, one rip in the drivers seat, the armrest needs replaced as well as the headliner. It has zero rust on the frame or anywhere for that matter other than small spots on the body, and the hood has a pretty good bit of rust, but it can still be sanded so no big deal. What do you think for $750 bucks? Was it worth it?

Re: New guy from Dallas
Welcome. I live just north of Dallas in Carrollton. $750 what luck. Me I paid a liitle to much for mine $1200 and still spending. And we do have a club here in the area for 3rd gens. The Web site is. http://www.nttga.net/
It is a good bunch of people and as I understand a offshoot from this site.
As for my ride, I was in the same boat as you engine wise. I didnt know it at the time buy the number 1 piston was shattered on top, then I get engine #2 and it had a bad rod, so here we are on #3 with better luck. Now it is the tranny's turn.
Anyway welcome. And when you can come by the nttga site.

I like it man, good deal... especially if the engine is sound, and the extra tranny is in good working condition. One of the first things i'd do after messing with the engine and getting that other tranny is... FINISH THE PRIMER JOB!!!! Atleast until you can get the paint done. Nothing wrong with a primered 3rd gen.

Thanks for the comments!
kd5icr - Man that's some bad luck, hope mine is better! lol Oh and thanks for the heads up about NTTGA I'll check it out in a few minutes.
tyrvidar - Thanks man, and I'm right there with you on the primer. I think I will probably do that before I get the parts for the engine, it's driving me crazy.
ZONES89RS - Thanks!

I don't doubt it, I have seen some rough cars out there. Can't wait to see it though.
