Does my 88 need a smog pump?
I am putting a 305 out of a 92 and its got the smog pump but i am not sure if i need the smog pump to pass emissions in TX. I would like to know soon so i can get my car back on the road, after 4 years of being a yard ornament.

To pass the visual inspection, yes.
To pass the tailpipe inspection, no. Although it really depends on your engine. Some people squeak by with the pump. Some people pass with flying colours without the pump. It can't hurt.
