Depends on what parts of DFW. If Arlington is close enough you can bring it by the shop I work at for an estimate. Its ricks auto and collision repair at 1216 W. arkansas lane. Jimmy, our painter, has been working there and painting cars for 30+ years.

Ricks is a family owned and run shop. Its just Rick (the owner) Jimmy (the painter, collision repair guy, pretty much everything guy) Jimmys son, James (does pretty much everything besides the painting). And me (the only one not related, and I do some collision related stuff but mostly I do the mechanical work now). Stop by or call and Rick will give you a pretty good estimate.

Re: Recommendation for a body shop??

youre looking at atleast about $2000 for a decent long lasting paint job. macco is cheap, but you get what you pay for...

I'm assuming color choices will also play a factor

Somewhat, the crazier the color the more expensive. And If you wanna change from what ever color your car is now, it will be a little more since theres more work involved in changing colors.

Re: Recommendation for a body shop??

Well the car is a "players challenge" car it was originally yellow, then painted a white......sooooooo I'm not sure what I would want to do with it I'm thinking about a dark midnight blue, some silver flake. Is painting a car that is a lighter color kinda like painting a wall that is a lighter color to a darker color.....you know what I mean it's easier to cover light color(white) with a dark color then it is to go dark to light

Re: Recommendation for a body shop??

Anybody who paints cars professionally lays down a coat of correctly tinted sealer to keep any underlying colors from showing through. In will say that some colors will show a LOT more imperfections than others. Silver can be a PAIN. It likes to show sanding scratches really bad. It just makes for more work when doing the prep work and there for more expensive to paint.

Re: Recommendation for a body shop??

Changing colors takes some work too since you have to paint all the door jambs and little cracks and crevasses. It looks really weird when you open up the door to your car and see a red door jamb after just having your car painted blue...

No it was purple. It had some body damage on the passager side. I fixed but I only had black primer left over from my mustang project.
