With $4 a gallon gas and a POS socialist president
drastically expanding the welfare state, it is hard
to plan for anything next year except my vote.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
Finances have not been as good as last year so Ill be humble
1. Install LT's and true dual exhaust
2. Upgrade to 3.43's in the rear
3. Restore my interior
4. Do body work and paint car
5. Re-do suspension
its a big list but I have faith

@Drew
Indeed
Not too much left really to make me happy...
Tranny - 5 or 6 speed
Bigger brakes - 1LE
Seats - mine are PMD but i may go aftermarket
Front grills - damn things are so delicate
Paint - same factory paint scheme
Byron and i are almost done with the El Camino
this summer so i may start working on a tranny
swap for next year. Elky front end has been
mocked up, rewired, disassembled for paint,
cleaned and, reassembly started 'bottom is
already done'.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
Modest plans for me.
Minor brake upgrades.
New tint. (It's 21 years old)
Upgrade the suspension (LCA, PHB, subframe connectors)
Debating Dyno Don headers. Don't want the car to be too loud though.

Since i started dating again i seldom touch
mine and it's still pretty shiny... LOL
Seriously though it's been a year since i did
the engine compartment and it's still looks
the same. Admittedly though i wipe it down
and clean it every other week. I use Heavy
Metal polish cotton on the polished parts
every couple of months.

Cosmetics: get a new T-top seal and windshield and while they're out fix a couple of small rust spots, then touchup paint--not the whole car, but a few trouble spots I think I've learned how to fix. We'll see, like color sanding.
350 stays on the stand until gas prices drop, so do some under hood detailing.
Either add various chassis stiffeners or find a race shop that can do it all at once.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
Well, i am probably going to go ahead and swap in a 5.3 with a small cam in my 89 RS, then dump the 6.0 in the Trans Am and see if it goes 10s all motor with a TH400 backing it instead of a manual, see if i can squeeze 30 MPG out of a carbed 5.3 in the Camaro, if my Trailblazer with a 5.3 can get 22 MPG at 5000 pounds and aerodynamic as abrick i think it will get 30 in my Camaro with a VS 750 Holley.
Then put the nitrous in the TA as well.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
ill try my best to have the ls swap complete. but if not ill sport the 4th gen wheels and the tbi. better than all. that would be really cool. especially if we get more sponsers to.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
I knew what all I would do to this car before I bought it. I broke down all my intentions for this car into 3 stages:
Stage 2:Completed 2011
ASP Underdrive Crank Pulley
Air Foil
Crane 1.6 Roller Rocker Arms(and new valve seals)
Cold Air kit(wasnt easy on a firebird)
Battery moved to the Trunk
1LE Driveshaft
And to be completed still within 2011:
Stage 3: Starting within the next few months
BFG G-Force stock sized tires
Ported Lower Intake
Port Matching and polishing the SLP Runners(plenum has allready been ported)
Port Matched Intake and Exhaust ports on the heads
Jet Hot Coated Hedmen Long Tubes 1 5/8" Primary, 3" Collectors
High Flow cats
Computer tuning
A Trip to a Dynamometer, Hoping for 300rwhp once its tuned, only expecting 280 though

After all this the only other thing I "Might" do to this car is one day rip out the carpet and headliner, dynamat it, and replace it with black stuff, and some screamin' chicken floor mats. Besides that, it will be a finished project.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
I drive the 89, allot, and the 6.0 will be allow faster in the 86 TA with a automatic, or so everyone says a auto would be faster. A 5.3 is better suited for the 89 for fuel mileage, it will sound great and still run better than most small block GEN I motors.
Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
so basically your doing an engine swap. i thought that your wifes car just got a 5.3.

Re: Goals For Your Car Next Year?
his wifes car did get the 5.3 and the 89 got the 6.0... think he's saying he's swapping the 6.0 to the wife and the 5.3 to the 89... I think..... anyways i got my motor mounts installed but got a question as to if anyone on here happens to have the bracket for the passenger side motor mount... mine is kinda bent due to previous frame damage which has ben repaired... to specify i don't need the mount itself but the bracket that bolts to the motor and has the through bolt for the mount for the passenger side.
